Tools and Hardware Reviews of Leatherman 830032 Blast Multitool with Leather Sheath

Customer Review: Great Tool
Summary: 5 Stars

When I set out to buy a multi tool, I knew I wanted a Leatherman. It was a difficult choice between the Blast and the Wave but I chose the Blast and I'm happy I did. Here's why. The screwdriver. The screwdriver on the Wave is short and stumpy with a bit. Great if the screw is right out in the open, but how often does that happen? The Blast has long, narrow screwdrivers that fit into snug places just fine. The Wave also has outside accesible blades and saws which is nice but I like having the pliers open, and all the tools being right there should I need them. The Blast feels great as well. The grip is comfortable and everything just feels solid. As for the locking mechanism, no problems here. It just comes down to preferance I think and either way, you buy a Leatherman and you won't be dissapointed. I carry my Blast with me everywhere I go. I use it from everything from fixing my kids bikes to clipping coupons for my wife. Any chance to use it, I take advantage of. Long live Leatherman!

Customer Review: Great multi tool
Summary: 5 Stars

With a leather man you get what you pay for. This is ideal for camping, keeping on the belt, storing in a car or just another tool in the ol box.

The knife is sharp, and the saw is surprisingly tough. I received it a few days ago before a weekend camping trip. I used to to skin a hare in leu of my straight blade and it did admirably. The saw while extremely sharp, is only useful on small trees and branches ( which for camping and day tripping is more then enough).

The blast is self is light and perfect for the hip, backpack, or storage in a car. When camping or hiking I toss it in my camel bak and hardly know it's there until I need it.

Customer Review: Great tool
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned 2 of these, I love this tool. I have seen a lot of reviews about the lock breaking, but I have carried one for two years and never had an issue with the lock. I think some people are really hard on their tools or they just really pull too hard when the lock is still engaged. This is the best leatherman they make for edc, at least for us normal guys. I don't really care for the wave or charge models because of the nasty pinch point where the blades meet. I had a wave for twenty four hours and managed to shave my thumb three times. For a quick knife, I carry a skeletool along with my blast. The screwdrivers are perfect. I think the bit drivers on the other models are fine, but they are really short and have no pry value at all. I know Leatherman says the screwdrivers aren't meant to be used as pry bars but let's face it, we all need a small prybar at one point or another. The bit drivers are great to have a lot of bits because you can buy the bit kits and they are really light weight, I use them in my skeletool. To the guys who have leather sheath issues, try a little harder, it is not too short and there is ample room, the problem is the rivets that hold the bottom together, they stick out a ways and need to be worn down. It is a little inconvenient but I don't buy a tool for the sheath.

Customer Review: Great tool for my blue collar job
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking to get a full sized multitool but didn't know which to get. I wanted to carry it just about everyday...mostly for having something handy for work but also maybe on weekends as well. This meant it had to be fairly light. I looked to Leatherman as it has tons of years of producing quality MT's. I decided on the blast after handling in my local sporting goods store and found that it was very light. It had just enough tools on it without having too much that I knew I would never use. I use the pliers, screwdrivers, file, saw and scissors most. I WOULD use the knife if I didn't already have a knife on me....which I usually do anyway.

These are excellent if you don't want ALL the bells and whistles and also want a lightweight option.
