The Leatherman Surge is a great tool as one would expect from leatherman. It works perfectly and the functions are well thought through! Just one star short of perfect because there was a little bit of rust on the pliers already when i unpacked the tool. Nothing too bad since it is only surface rust but still, i would expect it to be flawless. Great tool though, I take it with me wherever I go.Customer Review: Great got greater

Well I have had the surge for about a month now and have found that it has been of use several times for me. Pliers work very well so far I have used them while doing some wiring and some assembly both times no running for a tool just there. Can opener works like a dream, knife blades are sharp and seem to stay sharp that is a plus. Scissors have cut everything that I have asked them too. Saw blade has been used a couple of times and has done a great job that surprised me. Driver bits have been very good also as I ride a motorcycle and now have tool kit on my belt for the bike.
Reason that only gave it a four is that the tool has just started to give me trouble closing up smoothly. Probably will have to contact Leathermen on that. The sheath is not very well designed as far as seperation of tool and accessories, holds all, but bits fall out if not taken out with tool, can't leave extra bits in sheath if tool is not in there, bad design.

This is a great tool. I replaced a gerber for the second time. I broke the pliers blade off trying to remove a pin and decided to try a leatherman. I work in technical theatre so I connately find my self in a position were I need to get something done and quickly. After much research I had it narrowed down to the Surge and the TI. I decided on the Surge for its bigger size and function. Couldn't be happier I have had the tool for a month now and my only complaint is the little eye glass screw driver is shot. I used it to remove some TRS plus on mic cable and after the 3rd one it is broker and unusable I think I might take it to the bench grinder to try and fix it but haven't gotten to it yet.
The weight. This is the heaviest multi-tool i have ever owned. IT is not to heavy I cary it and a minimag in a holder. You can feel it on your bet but I don't mind it. It has that feel of a well made tool that isn't some cheep pice of Chinese crap. I do wish they would make the surge is a lighter version though.
It is always hard deciding on a tool you are hopefully going to have for years. If you reading the reviews Your on the right track.
