Tools and Hardware Reviews of Leatherman 830160 Surge Pocket Multitool with Nylon/Leather Sheath

Customer Review: If your thinking about getting Wave or Crunch, get the Surge
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one heck of a useful tool for people doing more than just running around in the woods. I use it on the rig, the knifes are super sharp but look out for the safety man cause they are long. Get the lanyard attachment so you dont drop it cause its pretty good sized and the bit set, they are pretty impressive and one of he plastic sets fits nicely in the sheath. The Surge has the better pliers than the Wave and it makes a difference. This is the better choice. Better than the crunch, trust me, the tool selection is much better and the crunch pliers arent really that good at anything as they really dont open that big. I am pretty happy with this thing.

I've carried a Leatherman Wave everyday for about 12 years. It has been a lifesaver in many situations. I once was forced to use it to change a alternator in a parking lot with it being my only tool. It has proven to be the most useful thing I own. Heck it's been used on this 'puter im typing on!

That Wave isn't broken. or lost. I bought this Surge out of love for my Wave. I really liked the idea of the scissors being a lil bigger and on the outside as i've used the scissors on my Wave alot. I also like the idea of it being a bit larger and thusly a lil more rugged. The wave pliers don't hold up to "twisting" (think tightening tie-wire) so well.

It took less than a second in my hand to realize this Surge is more "tool" than the wave.

A person can find just about everything about this tool through these reviews and google. I just wanted to point out a thing about the sheath that it came with .. it is this:Leatherman Premium Leather Nylon Sheath I (maybe it's sheath II, but you get the idea)

The sheath has two loops, one on each side, each being large enough to easily slip a AA maglite in. It also has a lil pouch under the snap on the front obviously intended to hold one tray of bits..

well the wife beckons with a task that needs doing..(wanna bet the leatherman will get involved?)

Customer Review: Its a nice tool with good quality
Summary: 4 Stars

Its a nice tool with good quality, should try using it in different weather conditions and check it out about the quality.

Though it weighs a bit heavy it does its job perfectly and I found it veryful !

As usual Amazon shipped it perfectly on time :)

Customer Review: JUST got it for my birthday
Summary: 5 Stars

My parents bought this for my birthday off my wish list. How awesome!

If you've compared specs with this Leatherman to other Leathermans, you'll notice that it's much bigger, yet oddly enough, features LESS tools. For me, this is excellent.

I don't need a Hex bit driver, a cutting hook, or a needlessly fancy lanyard ring... I need scissors that actually work. I need pliers that actually work. I need knives that actually works... It is in THIS respect that the Leatherman surge performs wonders; It doesn't have a frillion tools, but the tools it does have are robust.

Customer Review: Just right for Papa Bear!
Summary: 5 Stars

I read these reviews after ordering this as a pro deal from the manufacturer. I was a little scared after I read some of them.
Now that it arrived and I have had it in my hand all my worries are gone.
It fits my hands just right. It feels like a solid and bomber tool. I love the easy blade access.
Now, in the case it seems about cell phone sized. So, on a belt it does feel big. I don't really mind though. The case would get a 4 or so and the gadget would get a 5 so really this should be a 4 and a half.
Now, as you read that this is just right for my hand, bear in mind that I am 6'2" and 250 lbs. This may feel big to average people. To me though, just right.
