The Wave is a very handy multitool to have around, but it's a bit to heavy to sit loose in a pocket. With the pocket clip, it is much more comfortable in pocket (at least with jeans). The pocket clip positions the tool deep, as you can see from the image, the top of the tool would be flush with the edge of the pocket (or waistband).
The pocket clip doesn't interfere with use of any of the tools. I have not used the lanyard ring, but it's a good size and should be similarly handy--the built-in lanyard ring interferes with use of the scissors.

I just got my new Leatherman Wave & couldn't wait to get this pocket clip because carrying it in the belt sheath just isn't me. I can't comment on the lanyard ring because I don't plan on using it, just going in the drawer for now. This pocket clip allows me to carry my Wave with a "lower profile" & that's what I wanted. It doesn't pull your pocket down or anything, keeps it right where you need it & looks really good when attached. One concern I had about it was that it would get in the way when using the tool, luckily it's not an issue with this clip. If you're like me & don't want to carry your Leatherman in the belt sheath, get this clip, you won't be disappointed.Customer Review: Nice addition to any Wave.

I'm a bit surprised that the clip and ring aren't included with the Waves, but I guess that's the corporate mentality. These may not be value added for all users and they can turn it into a profit instead of increasing the base price of the multitool.
That said, in response to the other reviews, you don't want to oil the blades so they slip open at the slightest movement. That was the the problem most likely. The other problem is that the clip isn't meant to have the tool on your belt or exposed. It's supposed to go inside your pocket where it has a modicum of protection and the clip only allows it to ride at the top. It's not meant to carry the full weight outside of a pocket or on a belt. The pocket also provides protection of sorts from the blade opening inadvertantly.
I don't use the lanyard ring very often, but when I do, I enjoy the quick release feature. The ring itself is on the sharp and thin side, so over time, it could wear through a lanyard if you don't use a metal connector and just tie it off.
All-in-all, these are a nice compliment to the New Wave, and I recommend them since they aren't that expensive. They do what they are designed to do - if you buy them knowing that, you'll be satisfied.

The pocket clip is nice and will holds the Leatherman firmly in your pocket.
But if you are planning to use the Lanyard Ring, think again.
It is very large and clumsy.
I tried to use it on my Wave with the leather sheath.
Since the ring is very big, the sheath can hardly close and it bends the ring.
Bottom line, i wouldn't recommend it if you are planning to use the ring.

The ring and clip are good quality pieces, nice and thick, and they fit snugly into their place on my 25th Anniversary Wave. With a push of the lever, either of the two is easily attachable or detachable.
I rely on the lanyard ring to keep my tool from falling into the river while I'm working on my boat. The pocket clip comes in handy to keep my tool from wandering about and getting scratched and from scratching up against other items in either my shirt or pants pockets.
I saved this set in my Amazon Cart until I bought other items which qualified me for Amazon's free shipping. It's a great way to go for a nice deal!
I recommend the Leatherman quick-release pocket clip and lanyard ring.
