These are great for rooms that go well as hands-free such as bath and utility rooms, especially if you have little ones. This model is an occupancy sensor which means that the light will come on if motion is detected and turn off after a set period of time when there is no motion. There is also a manual slider switch to force the light on or off. These are a little easier to install than the push button vacancy sensors which require a neutral connection. I've had mixed results with CFLs although traditional bulbs function the best, halogen too. Great product!Customer Review: Great!

I almost didn't buy this item because of a previous review stating that "it will NOT work with newer compact fluorescent bulbs". Well, I'm purchasing a new home so I decided to purchase three of these sensors. I installed one for the laundry room light fixture which has a "newer compact fluorescent bulb" and it works like a champ.
I don't know yet if it will have a negative effect on bulb's life, but it has been over a week since I installed it and it's working just fine.

Great little addon, I put this in the utility room and walk in closets so you don't have to fumble to turn on the lights when your arms are full. You can adjust the time it shuts off from 15sec to 15min to keep the lights on while you are looking for something to wear. Works with compact florescent lights.Customer Review: Motion detector

So far the results have been all over the place. Sometimes it won't turn off automatically and sometime it won't turn on automatically. I would like to have had better operating instructions.
