Tools and Hardware Reviews of LightWedge Flex Neck Reading Light, Soft Touch BlackCustomer Review: The Best Reading Light I've Ever Used Summary: 5 Stars
As an avid reader, my quest to find a good quality reading light that actually works finally ended when I ran across this light by LightWedge.
I've lost track of how many reading lights I have purchased in the past twenty years. Most all of them, in spite of my early high hopes upon seeing them in stores, ended up being either too heavy, too dim, too hard to attach to the book, too short on battery light, too unfocused in their light dispersion pattern, or any number of other problems too varied to remember right now. Most ended up in the trash after a few tries because they made the reading task more difficult and sometimes, too expensive, due to battery costs.
The LightWedge Flex Neck Reading Light is what I consider to be the first reading light that meets all my needs for a good reading light, and meets them well. The dual-LED light is bright and focused. The goose neck is flexible and long enough to be adjusted in almost any position with little problem. The switch to turn the light on and off feels well-built, and has a positive feel for both the on and off positions. The light easily and securely attaches to most any book, even paperbacks. And, if all that was not enough, I actually do get about 30 hours of usable light from two CR2032 batteries, and since you can purchase these batteries for about one dollar each online if you shop around, it's a bargain at that.
I wholeheartedly recommend this reading light as one of the only ones that has ever functioned the way a reading light should. I've used it ever since I found it.
Customer Review: The LightWedge is Pretty Good Summary: 4 Stars
Overall, the LightWedge Flex Neck Reading Light is a good product.
Pros:
* It's built tough (doesn't seem like the neck or clip would wear out anytime soon).
* It has pretty good quality components considering the price.
* The light is very bright and reduces eye strain.
* It's lightweight and compact.
* Comes with extra batteries.
Cons:
* The neck is kind of short so when I use it with my textbook, I have to re-clip it to different parts of the book to get the most light. It's kind of annoying.
* The on/off button, located on the opposite side of where the bulbs are, is "buggy." Sometimes I have to press three times in order for the light to turn on.
* Not sure how long the batteries will last but I can see replacing the batteries getting to be annoying.
Customer Review: Too dim Summary: 2 Stars
Nice flexibility with the bendy neck, but changing the battery didn't make it any brighter. I had to move the light down the page as I read, and even on paperbacks the light didn't spread all the way across the page. I'd rather wear a headlamp than unclip the light every time I need to turn the page anyway.
Customer Review: Works great! Summary: 5 Stars
For Christmas I purchased a $20 Kindle light for my husband, which I really liked. I decided to purchase one for myself and found this one for half the price. It's exactly the same, works great, and I can read in bed without turning on the overhead light, etc. It shines on the page very well, I have no trouble seeing, clips on well (although I clip several pages together at once if it's a soft-bound book), and moves easily if you need to flash more light anywhere. So far I've used it nearly every night for about 1.5 months and the little battery is still working fine. It came with 2 spares though, and we purchased an extra package of batteries so I'm good. Although I've read other reviews about the light switch going out, this hasn't happened with mine. At this price, I'm not too concerned about it, either.
Customer Review: amazing light- so many uses!! Summary: 5 Stars
This light has served so many purposes in our home. Of course it is great for reading - it clips on so perfectly to the back of the book for use of turning pages and it is lightweight so no added weight while holding your book!! I also use it for a nightlight when we need to get out of bed and as a nightlight for our newborn son when we go out of town. It clips perfectly on his bassinet. We also use one in the house over his changing table-it clips on the blinds so that in the middle of the night we can see but it doesn't wake us or the baby fully. Overall this is such a great product with so many uses.
