Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lutron TT-300NLH-WH Credenza Lamp Dimmer White

Customer Review: Best Little table Dimmer Around
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used these for years. They have beccome hard to find, but leave it to Amazon to have it. What I like is its appearance. It takes up very little space and looks good.

Be sure not to overload its capacity though, which I believe is 300 watts. And make sure not to spill anything liquid on it by accident or it will become an "on and off switch" only!

Customer Review: Dim Sum
Summary: 4 Stars

I'd been looking for a dimmer switch / reo-stat for a while and didn't want to splice wire. I found the Lutron Lamp Dimmer and it was the best thing out there for what I wanted. I would have liked another color option but for my needs it wasn't a big issue. I recommend this item to anyone who wants to dim the lights in less than 1 minute.

Customer Review: Disappointed
Summary: 2 Stars

This doesn't seem to work with cfl lightbulbs, and I decided not to go back to the environmentally unfriendly bulbs just to have a dimmer. It would have been great in the nursery, so I am disappointed and will return them. The cord wasn't long enough for our situation either, but most houses have more plugs that ours does. Oh well.

Customer Review: Does exactly what it's designed to do. (Bulb makes a whining noise though)
Summary: 5 Stars

Super simple product. Does exactly what it's designed to do. And the red LED lights up when it's off so that you're not fumbling around in the dark for the switch.

The only caveat is that my standard incandescent (40 watt?) bulb tends to make a medium-high pitched whining noise when used with this dimmer. It doesn't really bother me but I can see it bothering someone else. I'm not sure if it's something to do with my particular light bulb or if this happens with all bulbs.

But I'm sure this whining isn't the fault of the dimmer, so I'm still giving it 5 stars.

Customer Review: Does the job well and as advertised
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought 3 of these for nightstand lamps at home. Note these have a disclaimer saying they are only for incandescent bulbs, so discard this if you are going to be using low-consumption (fluorescent type) bulbs (the ones that come with the electronic starter). The item works fine. The construction is good enough (4 little round rubber adhesive pads it has on the base seem to come off easier than anticipated). The cable is quite sturdy. Installation is quick and easy (I can't gardly call it "installation"... just plug the thing into the outlet!). As indicated in other reviews, don't excpect micrometer adjustment capabilities, but I do think it is sensitive enough to allow for low level, dim lighting conditions... it just takes a little practice to know where to find the sweet spot, but I think it is good for my needs and I would purchase again.
