Installed the ELV1 thermostat and it works great. Easy to program and set. Calling for more heat is just a push of a button and it goes back to origional settings on the next cycle. Did the installation myself. I had some questions about the number of wires in the wall versus the two on the thermostat but an electrician friend and Bob's do-it-yourself on line page helped a lot. Basically if you have four wires you install this on one leg and wire the other together. Please see a good diagram to understand this. It is not difficult but a visual helps to understand. Good info on line if you search "wiring".Customer Review: Works well, poor display

I'm very pleased with this product except for one thing: it has a blinking display. It switches back and forth about every 2 seconds from showing the time to showing the current temperature. To me, a blinking display means that something is wrong. Maybe I'm weird, but looking at the darn thing makes me a little nervous.
If that won't bother you, you'll like this thermostat. It came with good instructions and was easy to install. The interface (other than the blinking display) is very good.

The item looked fine.
There are a couple of things you need to consider. This product is rated for 15 Amps maximum and my baseboard heater runs at 21 Amps.
Also, when I opened up current thermostat, there was no easy way to figure out which wire (both the same color) was the one that went to the box and the one that went to the heater. When I used a current checker I had to put one end into a ground (bathroom outlet next to the thermostat) and the end on to each wire to find the hot wire. Not sure if this is the correct way to determine it, but that was all I could come up with.
I would have loved to use this item, and they should report the amps. I know it doesn't make sense to write a review on something I didn't try, but think about the hassle and money I saved you when I was out the restocking fee.

I all ready one of these items in use and love it. Electric heat is more difficult to find this item for and now I need to save energy this year so I started looking for this item in the stores and couldn't find them so I finally sent for them through amazon.com and with in a week I had them to put in all the rooms. I have in floor heat and a standard thermostat has too much temperature lag between on and off cycles. The room would get too warm and then too cold. This thermostat will keep the temperature at the exact degree set.
