I'm caring for a friend who is in really bad shape healthwise, almost totally bedridden. My wife and I invited him to come live with us so I could care for him. He's in need of someone to even fix his meals for him. He came to live with us in October. The first real cold snap of the year caught me by surprise and I didn't have the heater on. He got very cold that night, and it had a very detrimental effect on his fragile health. This same thing happened a few more times (to a lesser degree) before we purchased this plugin thermostat for use with a room heater for him. It has been FANTASTIC!!! I can't say enough how helpful this item has been. After buying it, whenever I would walk into his room during the winter, his room was never too hot or cold after that, always just right. Great idea, it's about time heaters/Air Conditioners got thermostats that actually work accurately. Who wants to waste electricity and spend all day turning the heater / AC on and off? Nice price too, similar to a thermostat without an outlet. I wish I found this sooner before making my own out of a thermostat, outlet, relay and power supply... and then watching the worthless hardware store thermostat fail after 6 months.Customer Review: Used As A Heat Lamp Thermostat for my chicken coop and love it

I had purchased one of the other automatic thermostats that look like a dual out plug and have a set temperature of I think 35 degrees. It was very unreliable and was a threat to my chickens health. I then purchased this unit and and am so happy with it. I have had it for two winters now and it has not failed me yet. I keep my chicken coop at 50 degrees in the winter months. I use this unit along with two 150 watt heat lamps in my 4'x6' coop. I have also insulated my coop to help keep heating cost down. This product is perfect for room temperature control. According to the room thermometer my bedroom never varied more than 4 degrees. Before that, with the air conditioner's built in thermo-control, it ranged to 10 or more degrees per setting.
