I got the 4D LED Mag-lite recently. I was very satisfied. It was delivered two days ahead of schedule, and the flashlight is awesome, durable, and bright. What more do you want? My dad is always getting these cheap flashlights... he's going to be jealous when he sees this. As always Maglite is the best. Especially when priced like this. Thank you for that. The actual weight of this flashlight with 6 copper-tops is about 2 or 3 pounds. So it is probably too long and heavy for close quarter mechanic type work. But for those of us that need an unofficial "weapon" on the job, this more than fits the bill. I had purchased this Maglite originally for my sister. She bought a house in the bay area, and so I thought a great housewarming gift would be a 6D Maglite. She lives by herself, has no pets, and I figured she could use an excellent flashlight. I'm not saying she can not defend for herself, I'm just saying that everyone, no matter if you're living in an apartment or house, should have at least one 6D Maglite. However, she sees the size of this thing, and rejects my gift. She told me she'd throw it away, so I said I would take it. I gave her my 2D Maglite in place of the 6D and now I have one of these bats and my sister has a smaller version. Did I mention the size of this flashlight?
I just went camping to Yosemite for a week, and let me tell you, this flashlight was great. You can take off the head of the flashlight, and it becomes a lantern. It lights up any tent or campground. My buddies were impressed with how durable and reliable the Maglite. Overall, I would recommend this product to anybody. Even police officers tell people to get this flashlight. So when you have law enforcement officers referring individuals to this product, then you know it has to be an effective item.

About 1.5x brighter than the 2D halogen maglite. The 3D LED maglite is way brighter than either though. Would like to get a bulb replacement for this one.
Battery life is only 11 hours? Since it's not a whole lot brighter than the 2D cell I was surprised by the short battery life.
If you're not a security guard you'll look like one carrying this flashlight / baton. It's huge, which is probably the reason why you're buying it.

You could use this thing as a baseball bat and it would still shine bright and strong EVERYTIME. Hands down the best flashlite, period.
