Customer Review: Awesome BANG! for your dollar

I'm a professional boat detailer & have used a wide selection of buffers over the years. I had gotten out of the business for many years, and upon returning to it, needed to replace my worn out Black & Decker two speed variable, which had served me well, but its day was over. I had the opportunity to try the Makita 9227C prior to purchasing my own unit, thanks to the generosity of a friend in the same business. I had been considering a Dewault, among a few other buffers at some local stores. I'm so grateful I was able to get my hands on this machine before I made my final decision!
This machine is everything & more I expect from a quality buffer/polisher! It's light weight compared to other similar models, quiet & smooth, very well balanced. It has a speed dial you can adjust while in use. THAT is a great feature in itself! This unit came with a carry bag, two different handles, two wool buffing pads, a hook & loop style backer pad and a few other odds & ends.
The hook & loop design makes changing the pads a snap...back in the day, all my older machines had the center bolt on pads, a real PAIN! to replace I used to frown upon the hook & loop design, being familiar with the old school type machines. I just didn't think that the hook & loop design would work well, that it would cause problems such as the pads not staying on the backer pad, etc., I was SO wrong! After having used my new Makita with the hook & loop design backing pad, I will NEVER go back to the bolt on style backing pad.
The buffer's outer housing is rugged, and, according to the instructions, you can easily replace the armature brushes yourself when they finally wear out. THAT is a big plus as well. My friend that has the same machine ONLY buys this model for his business, which is much larger than mine. He swears by the durability & dependability of the Makita 9227C, and, so far I have to agree.
Finally, I priced the unit locally, the least expensive unit I found was just over $200.00, and that was without ANY of the extras, no carry bag, only one handle, no buffing pads...my friend orders his machines through a local auto parts store & pays close to $300.00 for the same exact deal I got for just under $200.00 which included the shipping cost, here at Amazon. It shipped quickly, I received it in less than a week! I can't say enough good things about this machine, and, I tip my hat to Amazon.com for their awesome price & equally awesome service! That's my long winded review, hope it helps you!
