Tools and Hardware Reviews of Makita LCT300W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo KitCustomer Review: Best power tool I own Summary: 5 Stars
(From July 17, 2007) I'm a lead carpenter for a residential remodeler. I've owned 11 cordless drills over the years (currently I have 4) and this Makita is not only the best of the bunch, by far, it may be the best power tool I own. I've had it for about a month now and I've used it everyday. I have a complete compliment of "quick disconnect" bits so I also use this driver as a drill. I've drilled holes in concrete and block using masonry bits and it will easily countersink Tap-cons. I thought the little work light was a gimmicky thing but I have to admit, its a big help in tight dark places, I've even used it as a flashlight. For the size, weight, price, quality, power, etc, etc, you can't beat this drill/driver. The batteries charge in about 15 minutes but they last for days so with 2 batteries, you'll never be without a charged battery. The tool came with a soft square carrying case, kind of looks like a cooler. Since I hate wearing a tool belt rig, this case is great, if you remove the charger, this case will hold a bunch of standard handtools as well as the drill.
This is a great product, I highly recommend it.
*Update>> Its been just over a year and I have to say this drill is as good as the day I got it. In the last few months I purchased the combo kit, the drill and impact driver. I was curious to see if the first one I bought was still as strong as the brand new one. I see no difference. I am still more impressed with these drills/drivers than any tool I own....and its about time Makita sends me some free stuff for the gushing reviews. Seriously tho, you won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Better than Dewalt Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to replace my Dewalt 18 volt system. Way better... Lighter, quicker to recharge, holds charge longer, tons of torque, LED is a bonus. The only funky thing is the case. It looks like a child's lunch box.
Customer Review: Better than i thiught it would be Summary: 5 Stars
I got the combo set as a Christmas gift. They came fully charged. As a furniture maker AND the neighbohood mr.fixit I have already used them a lot in the short time that I have had them. They are lighter than my 12 volt Porter Cable drills that I have used in the past, quite a bit more powerfull and the batteries seem to last longer than the NiCads in the PC's. In fact I haven't even plugged in the battery charger yet.
I would reccomend this set to anyone who needs a quality drilldriver and impact driver. I sure am impressed with them.
Customer Review: Better than sliced bread Summary: 5 Stars
First purchase of top the line tool. I now own everything cordless Makita makes, except their radio. Battery charger will handle all their batteries. Quick battery re- charge time. I laughed off the light that comes on when I received the product. Guess what, first project was in a deep dark box. Went to get light, happened to pull trigger, there was light. Love the clip, no more laying tools on ground. Purchased bigger batteries. If batteries don't fit your tools, just file off the little plastic stud. The power is outstanding.
Customer Review: Built Makita Tough Summary: 5 Stars
I am a pro contractor and use my tools on a daily basis in a variety of applications. The drill is one of the best cordless models I have used. It would have benefited from a metal chuck but the plastic one is pretty durable. Plenty of torque for driving and more than enough speed for drilling. I can't say enough good things about the impact either. I used my Hilti hammer drill to drill 50 holes through a 2x12 and brick and then sunk 50 tapcons using the Makita Impact, all on one charge.
