Tools and Hardware Reviews of Makita LCT300W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo KitCustomer Review: Good Value Summary: 5 Stars
My 9V Makita finally went belly up so I saw this combo kit. At the time it had a rebate for a free third battery. The power of the 18 V over the old 9V is very clear to see but the battery charges in far less time so with the two that come it you should always have power close at hand. I like the hand chuck and there are more setting than I had used in the past. The light I have not used but the driver and the impact driver are both welcome new member to my tool box.
A co-worker recommended this kit though he has the two piece which means no light. I would go with either one.
Customer Review: Good drill, terrible batteries, ridiculous case Summary: 4 Stars
Drill works well. It's light, powerful, better than average. Batteries are terrible. Had the drill two years went through four 1.5 batteries. Drill finally died (after I bought a $100 3.0 mAh battery) so I bought the stand alone model just to replace the ridiculous fabric box case that came with this set. Good drill, not perfect but better than most everything out there. Why are batteries so expensive?!
Customer Review: Good tools for the serious DIY/Amateur Summary: 4 Stars
This set is more than adequate for the average do-it-yourselfer. The very light weight also makes them easy to carry around for an all-day project. Buyer note, this set comes with two of the small LI batteries; if you have a lengthy project in mind, you'll need to buy an extra one or two of the large batteries (~$100 per pair). The light is handy (and very light!), but it burns through batteries fast, and instead of slowly dimming as the battery power fades, the light simply goes out---which can be a bit annoying if you're in the middle of a project where the light is critical. But, that said, you're probably not buying this set for the light. The drill and driver have worked great so far, and the driver especially makes fastening in tight places easy. Only thing I would ask for is a slot on the driver to keep a spare bit or two, i.e. as provided by the comparable DeWalt driver.
Customer Review: Good value and performance Summary: 4 Stars
I am very happy with the performance of all three pieces in this kit. The impact driver worked better than the drill for removing some stubborn screws in my deck (although it is pretty loud!). The batteries and charger work great, very fast charging and good status indicators on the charger.
My only complaint is that the ink on the "Makita" label on the side of the impact driver came off on my hand during use. Surely, the ink wasn't that fresh! I expect better quality from Makita. Time will tell how everything else holds up.
Customer Review: Great Combo - you need more batteries! Summary: 4 Stars
These tools are great, the only down side is this combo comes with only two batteries. You need at least two more to be ready for action at all times.
