Customer Review: A necessary tool
Summary: 4 Stars
The stud punch crimper holds steel studs to steel track securely until I pop rivet them together permanently with steel pop rivets. The punch is just under 1/8 inch or the metal distorts during punching, in any event, the hole often needs to be cleaned out with a 1/8 inch drill before insterting a pop rivet.
I am building tables for a modular model railroad. This will repeatedly be taken apart and stored and reassembled at different venues throughout the year. Therefore the tables must be rock solid and maintain dimensions, and be easy to move. No wood frames!!
The alternative self tapping screws (which need to be predrilled anyway) are not nearly as solid as the crimp - pop rivet combiination. And drilling every hole is a royal pain in the neck, as well as expensive considering the number of broken drills.
A good value if you are spending more than a day assembling metal stud/track. You can do without it, but this is a real time saver.
