Customer Review: Good for my camping trailer Summary: 4 Stars
I have a small trailer we use at a campsite, that sits there without moving. Our only power is solar. I have a 45watt panel array that usually charges the 12volt batter, and powers the Flourescent lights when needed. We use solar other stuff for other things. The dragging about of the array takes time, and is a hassle. I have purchased this LZ413A series for my back yard and love them.
A single detachable panel with replaceable batteries [easy to get to, no screws] is great. The lights plug into the back side, and it looks dressy. My desire was to NOT have to keep placing the individual lights I had previously to get the best sun. This item allows it to be in the best sun always, and the cords to it from each light are light, and with about 12' of cord, which is plenty.
Brightness, well 'ok' not flashlight bright, but close. I have each light with 3 LEDs in it.
I plan to 'wire' into the walls of my trailer, about six of these lights. The battery/panels noted in this pack will be mounted on a bulkhead for easy removal. I plan to have the panels taken during the day, mounted onto the ground to recharge each day, then re-hooked back into the trailer [we always park it in the trees/shady area] during the evening. IF like my backyard ones, it should provide enough light to read or whatever. IF I need more light, then another set. The backyard ones last all night, and hearing of going to a better batter capacity might be my next improvement when I repalce them, whenever that happens.
I've also read of the newer 4 LED set, with more durable housing...not sure if it's worth the cost, but, I usually upgrade when offered, so I might be buying those instead. Either way, I'm satisfied.
Customer Review: Good for what they are Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased the 3-pack of Mailbu lights for my very small backyard rock garden about 5 months ago. I set one to illuminate a Japanese lantern, another for a red maple, and a third for small juniper tree. I set the solar panel in the sunniest part of the yard, and was able to place the three lights in three generally dispersed spots without any difficult. Fortunately, the wires can be easily hidden in the dirt, or in may case, under the gravel. The lights turn on automatically as soon as the sun goes down and last well into the night (since I've never stayed up beyond 2 or 3 I cannot say how long they last, but they certainly hold a charge for at least 5 hours, even on a cloudy day). They do a more than adequate job, and basically do what I expected: they "spotlight" different elements of the garden. As several reviewers have noted, these are small solar lights; thus, they are not going to light up your entire backyard, or even a medium size (much less large) tree. But, I don't think that they were designed to do that (so it's unfair to criticize the product for not meeting unreasonable expectations). I would recommend these lights for anyone who just needs to spotlight relatively small objects, shrubs, etc. in their yard.
Customer Review: Good performance, but cheap plastic enclosure. Summary: 4 Stars
I need some night light in my front door area. Due to the nearby windors around the front door area, the motion sensor type of light fixtures don't work. I install the solar flood lights to the roof rafter and put the solar panel on the roof. With 3 LEDs in each light module (the package has 3 light modules), the output light is bright enough to light the front door path but not too strong to create light pollution. I am happy with the ease of installation and the performance of the LED lights. I take one point out because the whole solar panel module is all plastic stuffs (the stand, the enclosure). I can not say how long the solar panel can last (it's on the roof and it will be exposed to sun all year around).

This solar panel has been sitting on my roof top for almost 2 years. I never clean the solar panel surface, and never replace the rechargeable battery. And it still works great. Excellent quality!!!

Can not believe the longevity of this solar flood lights. It has been sitting on the roof top for 3 years now. Again, I never bother to clean it and I don't recallreplacing the rechargeable batteries. But is still works fine!!! The rechargeable batteries has gone through more than 1000 discharging/charging cycles (far beyond the life cycle of a rechargeable battery). I guess, the slow discharging and charging process also extend the life of the battery. Will come back to update the status next year....
Customer Review: Good solar lighting Summary: 4 Stars
I originally bought one set of these. After using it for about 2 weeks I felt comfortable enough to order 3 more sets.
You need to realize that when you combie solar power and rechargeable AA batteries that you are (obviously) totally reliant on the amount of sunlight that falls on the panel. I bought some Sony AA 2500 mAh batteries to go with these, but soon realized that the extra capacity meant nothing on gloomy days where the sunlight didn't use the extra storage. I use them to light a long driveway with a soft glow. Just enough to see where you are walking. They were also good when I shone them up into some trees that line my driveway (gave them a nice silvery glow).
The long and the short of it is that these are very bright after a good solid charge in direct sunlight. On gloomy days, they are not bright at all. In the winter, these won't be stellar players. I expect great things in the summer though.
All in all I am quite pleased with these units, given the inherent dependencies on the power of the sun!
