Tools and Hardware Reviews of Malibu Solar Cast Aluminum Flood Light and Remote Panel with 12 High Power White LEDs, Black #LZ605RPCustomer Review: Disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
Purchased & came in timely manner. Had read all reviews and thought to be good for flag illumination. Received and setup and worked for a few days then quit. Tapped on solar panel and light would go off and on. Contacted support which was fast and fair and sent out new solar panel however received differnt model solar panel with 800Mah batteries and original was 1200Mah. Called concerned about brightness as solar panel was smaller and asked why sent wrong model. They said model should work and needed the 1200Mah and would send me some. Received 900mAh batteries. Go figure. Light working but as I said disappointed. Not sure if I were to get the right model whether it would work or be brighter. Answering Service good but questionable knowledge of product, product lousy.
Customer Review: Great Solar Floodlight Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this item based on a tip from a review for a different (less powerful) item. To my knowledge, this is the brightest solar floodlight on the market. It uses 12 LEDs and a mirror-type reflecting surface to create a stream bright light. It has a metal (aluminum?) housing and in general has a quality feel. The solar panel is separate but attached by a long wire so you can optimize its exposure to the sun. The angle of the light is adjustable for precise aiming.
I used it as an "up light" to illuminate a beautiful canary palm in my backyard (about 25 feet tall). I attached it with zip ties to a 6-foot fence to maximize the brightness of it. My neighbors like what I have done and were blown away that it was a solar light due to its brightness. I don't know how it would compare brightness-wise to a similar wired light but it works for my application. Solar was the way to go for me on this as I didn't want to deal with wiring, and why not save energy where you can?
I have another one on the way to hit the tree from a different angle. The product is a good value and adds a lot to my "outdoor living" space.
Customer Review: Great item if you know how to use it Summary: 4 Stars
Very easy to start & use, It's very bright, but you can't have any light shining on the solar panel at night. The brightness of a light dims the flood light eminating, so keep the solar panal away from a streetlight or any light at night.
Customer Review: Just Purchased Summary: 2 Stars
I just purchased this light and have to admit was swayed a bit by the initial review I read about the guy and his palm tree. Anyway got the light, piece of cake to hook up, sat it for a day in the sun and waited for the magic to happen that night. I put it right under a small tree, but there was no magic. The leaves of the tree did light up, but barely. A small flash light would work much better for the effect I was looking for. This light also has the bluish tint that just about every solar light has on the market. Yuck! This light would be terrible for any type of security purposes. It would probably give a crook just enough light to see where he was going, but wouldn't deter them a bit from walking towards it. I gave this rating 2 stars only for ease of use and the cord is nice and long. Too bad the light is terrible. I'll never buy another solar light until the technology improves. Prices are ridiculous for what you get.
Customer Review: Malibu Solar Flood Light Summary: 4 Stars
This light works great as a spot light for our front yard landscape features. The option for having the light on low or high is nice also.
I live in Arizona and the exposed wiring between the light fixture and the remote solar panel appears to be too light for the UV from the sun. Also, the support post needs to be taller so that the proper light angle can be established.
