I originally bought this item in Macy's for a gift only to find scratches in the black surface. I returned to Macy's and bought one from Amazon. There were even more scratches which are white on the black surface. The overall surface qualtiy is very poor. I kept the unit and covered the white scratchs with black permenent marker. The valet is a useful device, but Mark Feldstein has a lot to learn about product quality, even though the unit was packed well.Customer Review: Charging valet is OK

The charging valet looks very nice, and it's probably the nicest looking charging station I've seen. But the design could be improved: I would prefer a deeper storage space under the pull-up lid and either no drawer at all or a false drawer front. That way my husband's wallet and keys would fit inside the valet, presenting a much tidier appearance.Customer Review: Clutter free.

I bought this for my husband to keep all of his electronic gadgets neatly organized. It works, for the most part. The only real problem I have is that the power strip in the back doesn't allow for the bulky plug-ins of cell phones.Customer Review: Convenient way to organize your electronic devices

We have a lot of gadgets to charge (3 IPODS, Blackberry, Nintendo DS, and 2 cellular phones). Our main items are placed into this valet allowing us to have a tidy method of hiding the cords within the body of this unit. A small drawer is convenient to put my keys and pager away.
The outlet strip allows for 6 items and there is a small notch to allow the cords to be exposed for easy access. The workaround for plugging multiple cords is to use a cord extender so that bulky plugs do not have to take up 2 spaces on the 6 outlet strip.Power Strip Liberator (5 Pack) Extension Cords
The finish is good for the purposes of its functionality. Construction is solid. For the price, it's a good value.

The charging valet seems to be designed for older electronics. Except for my IPod, most of our other equipment have side charge features and do not fit well in the divided compartments. The power cord is designed for standard plugs - most of our equipment have charger cords with transformers (I'm guessing that's what they are) to wide to fit more than two on the power cord. I was disappointed and would not recommend.
