This is a simple, almost foolproof device. You open the arm to touch the contacts to the battery and look at the meter. Green is good, red is bad. There are two contacts on the side for 9V batteries. The arm is configured so coin batteries can be tested too. It takes just a few seconds to test almost any kind of battery.
This device worked great. Although it's not a true "load test" it will certainly sort the live from the dead. I was able to go through dozens of batteries in just a few minutes.
I recycle dead batteries which means they accumulate until I get around to dropping them off. Nobody grabs the loose batteries out of the drawer because they don't know which ones are alive or dead. I accumulated a few dozen batteries and really needed a way to sort them out. All done!
It's hard to complain about a $6 device, but since you've read this far I figure you might be interested. I had to wiggle the 9V batteries to make contact. It still works, but you have to be careful lest you discard some good 9Vs.
Given the cost of batteries, this is a great investment.
