This lock never worked right out of the package and I returned it. The part in the body of the lock could not engage the end of the cable due to faulty assembly. It also feels pretty cheap and fragile, like you could smash it to break it, and the cable is thin and could easily be cut. The best use for would probably to lock your luggage in the hotel room so the housekeeping can't get to it, but I wouldn't use this to lock anything in a public space.

I bought this to lock my helmet to my motorcycle. I just needed something light and easy to store and not super heavy duty. This fit the bill exactly.

If you are protecting your luggage with only a suitcase lock, then all a thief has to do is pick up your sealed luggage and open it later, if they don't feel like snipping off the lock. A cable lock is not a major deterrent, but if one room has suitcases cable-locked to a radiator, and the next room has luggage loose in the room, the room with the loose luggage will be the one burgled. My friends in the police always say that you are not trying to make theft impossible, just a little more difficult for the thief. This little cable lock fits in your hand, is plenty long for luggage or skis, and works great for me.

I got this for a different purpose that most. Someone stole the cover off my Vespa one night because I was foolish enough to not bolt it down like you apparently have to bolt everything down to keep the savages that roam the streets at night from permanently borrowing things you work hard to pay for.

So this little thing isn't meant to thwart some full time professional criminal, but just to dissuade the lazy crooks and/or homeless people that would use my cover as a blanket or tarp.

The cable itself is pretty thin and the plastic body of the locking mechanism doesn't seem particularly sturdy, so I wouldn't tie down anything I treasured with it for an extended period of time, but for my purposes it does the job.

I ended up receiving a green one, I would have favored a red one for more visibility but it's not a big deal. Overall it's easy to use and for the price, a pretty good deal overall as long as you limit your expectations. It also lets you set your own combination, so that's helpful in terms of picking something easy to remember.
