DO NOT BUY THIS LOCK!!!!!
This has got to be the worst lock I've ever seen in my life. Even the tiny locks that came with my luggage (that are not TSA approved) stand a better chance at resisting being opened than these locks do.
Upon arriving, I noticed that the shackle does NOT close into the body of the lock, but rather sits about 1/16" above the body of the lock. To combat this, there is a C-Shaped metal protrusion (not visible in the picture, btw) that is designed to prevent the shackle from rotating when "locked". While yes, the shackle cannot rotate because of this, it is still very possible to open the lock by force WITHOUT USING TOOLS!
Using just my index finger, I was able to lift the shackle past this metal protrusion, and slide a zipper pull out from under the shackle. Additionally, once lifted, I could then rotate the shackle as if the lock were properly opened (a full 180 degrees). While doing so, I watched the numbers spin round and round effortlessly, as if laughing at me for buying this product.
I will go back to using zip-ties on my luggage, as they are much more difficult to open without using tools, and much much cheaper. I wish I could give 0 or negative stars, but as the ones I received were green, I suppose the 1 star is acceptable...

Manufacturers have now mastered the art of web photography. The photos are accurate. The problem is the locks are badly made.
When I set the combination, in order to use the lock, one worked, and the other hung up and is now unusable. The mechanism is badly made & imprecise: it set a combination before I finished, and now won't open/close. I'm hardly all thumbs: I don't generally have a problem like this.
Why not just send it back to Amazon? Amazon does a good job, & I'm sure they'd help out. But at their price, it's not worth the effort.
I wasn't looking for a huge bargain, just some locks that would function, and to avoid a special trip through traffic to the store.
I hope reviews like this help discipline the manufacturers to get the innards of their products up to the level of their beautiful photos.

Neither my husband nor I can reset the combinations on these locks.When you turn the hasp as instructed on the information sheet,the metal shaves off pieces of the plastic inside the cylinder. Of the 4 locks I purchased, only one was successfully reset. The other three now do not open with any combination.I went out and purchased keyed locks to replace them. I bought these from Amazon and got the neon pink. My bags are easy to spot in baggage claim. I carry valuable hunting sales samples when I travel and my bags are always checked by TSA (note in bag) but the locks are in place.
Very safe.
Every AIR traveler should have these TSA APPROVED locks.
