i got great use out of this lock. its very versatile for locking one or two bikes to any object, and long enough to loop through the front and back wheels of both bikes too. i always used this cable lock in tandem with a U-lock and never had my bikes stolen (and i have lived in new york city for more than 10 years). you could also use it without the U-lock if you are locking your bikes for a short period of time. but beware, if you don't use a U-lock then don't count on this lock to keep your bikes 100% safe, its more of an added deterrent and for locking the front wheels... the only reason i didn't give this lock a 5-star rating was that after about 10 years the cable started slipping when the key was set to the 'lock' position, and i wasn't pulling all that hard, so i had to toss it.
