Tools and Hardware Reviews of Maxxima MLS-01 Occupancy Sensor LED Light

Customer Review: Enough light for my hallway
Summary: 4 Stars

I use this light to illuminate a part of my hallway that does not have a light - it does the job. I've gone through two sets of batteries - each set of batteries lasted about 3 months.

Customer Review: Excellent product
Summary: 5 Stars

I have this hanging in my hallway next to the door to the garage. It lights up the hallway when I walk it so I am not walking into a dark house. I like the fact that there are 3 settings; On - where it stays on; Off - where it stays off; and OS Sensor - which is the motion sensor. It is also bright enough to light up an area, but not to bright if it is near a bedroom, it is not to bright to wake anyone who might be sleeping.

It is also useful for the bathroom or any dark room where you might search for light switches. Also since you can turn it on and leave it on, it would be good for closets that might not have a light.

Customer Review: Fairly good at what it does.
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this to illuminate dark areas on my stairs which have no electrical outlet nearby for safe passage at night.

The LED light is certainly bright enough to illuminate the stairs at night for safe passage. in fact my lovely wife complains it's TOO bright. It will last far longer than a fluorescent or incandescent bulb, and will give more illumination bang for the battery-life buck than either of those. So LED is a good choice for this application.

The range is around 10 feet, which is minimally acceptable for my purposes, but certainly good for a closet.

Two things that are less than ideal for my purposes:

The motion detector cannot "see" motion that is above the plane of the sensor. So you can't put it on the landing below and expect it to illuminate the stairs when you descend from above.

The light sensor is not sensitive enough, so that the little bugger still illuminates during the day despite regular houselights being on. Not a problem, but rather wasteful.

It would also be nice if the motion sensor could be rotated to point away from the light, but that's asking too much for such a reasonably priced item.

All in all, if you need to intermittently spot-illuminate an area without an outlet, this will do the trick.

Customer Review: Finally, one that works!
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't even tell you how many motion-sensor night lights that I tried in our master bathroom before finding one that works. Other lights I've tried either never turned off, didn't know that the light was on, never turned on or some combination. This one works 100% as advertised

Customer Review: Good Deal!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd seen some motion detector lights @ my daughters (she got for her small childrens' nighttime trips to bathroom), and thought the lights would be helpful for my elderly parents. So, I "googled" the lights, found Maxxima MLS-01 occupancy sensor led light for less than $10, so I ordered 3 (got free shipping!) I LOVE them!! They work very well, and my parents like them also! For the price, some peace of mind for safety issues is welcome! I have shared the website with my coworkers who also have elderly parents and caregivers. Thanks so much, Amazon!!!!
