Tools and Hardware Reviews of McCulloch MC-1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner

Customer Review: Cleans better, but takes longer
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for my mom as a gift. She loves it. I borrowed it from her to steam off wallpaper and it's working good. As for cleaning, the trick is to constantly steam and wipe without letting it cool too much. It took me about 30 minutes just to clean soap scum off my bathtub. It didn't do anything for the dots on the bottom from old sticky bathgrips. However, my mom said it cleaned the bottom of her shower great. The best thing is once you clean, things stay cleaner a lot longer because there is no soap reside. My bathtub stayed clean for 2 weeks. This unit is easy to fill and empty. We did break the steam nozzel tip, but the company sent us a new one in 3 days. It comes with lots of parts for different types of cleaning. My only complaint is the scrubbing parts seems to wear out pretty fast.

Customer Review: Close, no cigar
Summary: 3 Stars

I picked up the MC1275 at a very attractive price while shopping for much higher priced units. As I know you "get what you pay for" I once agan shot myself in the foot and will end up spending more money to acquire a unit that is more capable.

For a $100 steamer I suppose the MC1275 isn't all bad. It worked OK on linoleum floors although there was more water lef than I expected from "steam". Worked great on tile however no better or quicker than scrubing by hand. And those hard to clean corners with buildup... nope. Not even close.

The real dealbreaker for me is the lack of available attachments. A canister steamer ought to have an attachment for removing wallpaper. It ought to have a smaller attachment for upholstery and curtains as well as one specifically for steaming clothes and draperies. Like I said, I'd been shopping for more capable and more expensive machines and ended up going for the bargain with predictable results.

Customer Review: Consumer Reports was right!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd ordered a 400 dollar steam cleaner which didn't arrive on time. My husband checked the consumer magazine which recommended this McCulloch, and I ordered it from Amazon.com who could ship it overnight. Later, when I finally received the more expensive one, I had a chance to compare them, and the McCulloch is everything the other one is and MORE! I sent the expensive one back and kept my McCulloch.

Customer Review: Dazed and confused
Summary: 1 Stars

I am a actual customer who purchased the McCulloch MC-1275 and held off on my review until I had a chance to put it through some use. It's now been through about 6 months of use and I don't know where all these "good" ratings and reviews are coming from. The product is the worst hundred bucks I've ever spent. So much so I'm afraid to tell my wife it doesn't have the power to clean anything. Since it was the reviews from here and various other sites that helped me come to my conclusion to purchase thios item I will now take all these ratings and reviews with a grain of salt.

Customer Review: Decent cleaner
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall I think this is a fairly good steamer, however part of the reason I purchased it was to clean my bathroom, and kitchen floors without having to bend over. I still have to bend over a bit to scrub them and mop up the excess water afterwards. It does a good job, but not great, of cleaning my shower and tub. If you want to clean your floors with a steamer I would recommend an upright model.
