I've been hiking up my pants at the waist for decades, because belts never hold them up. The only suspenders I wore with any consistency other than the McGuire Nicholas suspenders were suspenders that were all stretchy (the only stretch material on the MN suspenders is on the back - which means the grandkids can't grab my suspenders from the front and snap me ;), and they were never comfortable. I'm 6' tall, big but I don't have a big gut, and the MN suspenders not only fit perfect (they're adjustable), they are so comfortable I easily forget I'm wearing suspenders. I can wear them kind of loosely and still have the result I desire - which is to keep my pants up so I'm not hiking them up every few minutes! Wearing them loosely means that they are never pulling at me, and this is the case whether I'm standing, sitting, or bending. They are heavy-duty - industrial strength - and they look it. They look like workman suspenders, as opposed to, say, lawyer suspenders (not that lawyers don't work; you know what I mean: manual labor), or suspenders that are more decorative than practical.
And I saw nothing remotely like them at my local WalMart in terms of quality. Just the clips alone, two in the front and two in the back, are "industrial strength," and none of the suspenders at my local WalMart had clips that were as large or appeared to be nearly as strong. (I haven't worn these with the same pair of jeans long enough to say how the teeth on the clips will wear on the fabric over time, and I've only worn these with jeans. If I'm wearing a shirt hanging out, which I typically do, I'll wear the suspenders under the outer shirt and over my undershirt.)
Real pleased with this purchase, wish I had bought them a long time ago, woulda saved me all that hiking up of my pants I had to do (not easy when your hands are full, e.g., I'm working out in the yard with a chainsaw and my pants start to slide down). And a great price.

My husband does a lot of honeydos and these suspenders are great for holding up the britches with comfort. Not for a dressy type situation though. These are heavier and the clamps hang on well for all that bending, lifting, etc. Also, I don't think you can get any better quality in the more expensive suspenders.Customer Review: Heavy Duty

These suspenders are very heavy duty but still rather light and comfortable when properly adjusted. The longer front straps do not stretch... only the shorter back straps stretch so proper adjustment is critical to achieve a comfortable fit. They say they're "one size fits most" but I doubt they're long enough to fit a person very much over 6 foot tall. The clips hold great and I suspect they will last very well. I'm well pleased with these suspenders.
