Tools and Hardware Reviews of Megabrite Frosted LED Color Changing Night Lights 6 PackCustomer Review: Megabrite lights Summary: 5 Stars
Megabrite Color Changing Night Light 6 Pk LED Lights...found these lights are just great for night lights and are great gifts.
Customer Review: New and Improved Design Summary: 5 Stars
The product pictured has a frosted rainbow pattern and is the 3rd generation of the color changing LED lights from Megabrite. They are sold at Costco for $18.99/(6-pack) where I've picked up dozens to give away as gifts and install throughout my home. The new design solves some of the problems I have with the previous models by using a frosted arc pattern on the diffuser to create a brighter light.
You can stop the color rotation and set it to one color to better accent a room by using the button on the front. Some colors are brighter than others (such as white and violet); while Red is very dark. Reviewers have mentioned that the rotation is annoying since the light intensity is always changing depending on the color; this is true but avoidable if you want to forfeit the color changing. If you want to dim a color, just click the button while the color is transitioning and it will lock in the color and brightness.
Another unique feature about these LED lights is the photo sensor, which is more accurate but not instantaneous. If you are in a dark room and turn the light off, it will take a second before the night light switches on.
My guests are always amazed by the lights and I end up pulling them out of the wall and handing them away. They make great stocking stuffers for kids and adults.
Most importantly, they are a significant energy saver, particularly if you have many outlets to light. They also have a very sleek and modern appearance with a clean light and low profile, making them perfect accents for a modern home.
Customer Review: Possibly dangerous to use Summary: 3 Stars
After three months of use, I noticed that one of mine has a black spark-like mark on the botton, the label on the bottom is melted, and the plastic is deformed, like it was heated or something. This just does not look good! I am very hesitant to use the others, although so far, no problems. If you use these, just keep an eye on them.
Customer Review: START A HOLIDAY TRADITION! Summary: 5 Stars
We were so smitten by the first set that we bought three more sets as gifts. The lights are brighter in most colors (except red) than the night lights these replaced. The frosted arcing design of the top is elegant and designed to maximize the intensity of the light. We've tried these in our home for several nights already and are so pleased we've decided to make these lights part of our Christmas tradition. Each December, they will be brought out to replace the usual night lights to add to the festive, colorful beauty of our home!
Customer Review: Sensory Night Lights for Young and Old Summary: 5 Stars
Having gone through a series of night lights to keep the hallway, bathrooms, and foyers lit, these "Frosted LED Color Changing Night Lights" serve both adults and youngsters. Many an adult finds him/herself bumping into the night, the corner of a cabinet, or a wall, as he or she comes out of a sleeping position; some adults have even made their way to the emergency room because they failed to have some sort of light sensory item on, consequently needing orthopaedic assistance because of one injury or another. It's senseless to "cut the cost " of having night lights on throughout the house just to save a few cents; actually, there is "no sense" to cutting the cost only to wind up with a sling or cast, all because the hallway wasn't lit.
For children, it's a clever setup enabling them to connect with where they are when they wake up "in the middle of the night" for whatever reason, be it a dream, or a trip to the bathroom. Most recently, it has been useful to small children as a device for attention sensory stimulation; the two and a half year old and her five year old sibling were entranced with the changing of the colors, and mesmerized, as they sat and watched the night light change its colors. The look on the faces of both children was magical, and stimulating. It was as if they were selecting their favorite colors, maybe even memorizing the sequence of changing colors.
While there is no heat to feel, when touched, I would suggest that any of these night lights be away from a small child's reach; there are always outlets near the room entry light switch. And, how about this: set up several on a power strip to give the child a magical light show, maybe a device for encouraging a good night's sleep.
If you like a particular color, just press the small button to hold the night light on your favorite color. As soon as the sun goes down, these night lights begin their color display. Buy them at Amazon, or buy them at COSTCO: they are colorful, helpful, and stimulating, depending upon your youth. I give them 5 stars.
