1) Yes, there is no real manual to explain just how everything fits together - call customer service at Mibro 1-866-941-9006
A rep, Jason, sent me 2 different manuals via email, and offered support over and above until I fully understood. very nice...
2) I loved the clothesline! worked great, then a few months later it fell under 2 loads of laundry - Apparently the plastic came away from the cable through the "clasp." I called customer care( got Jason again) and with no hassle, he sent me not only a new cable, but a whole new kit! - free of charge, of course.
Thank you Jason and Mibro - I've never experienced such great customer service!

If you're weighing the costs of line-drying vs the dryer - consider also that the sun is the BEST stain remover. After the winter months of machine drying cloth diapers and a build-up of stains, ONE sun-drying on the clothesline and they looked brand spankin' new!
