I bought the Milwaukee 0490-22 4-Volt cordless screwdriver "kit" for two reasons: #1, my experience with Milwaukee tools in general have shown these tools are top quality, built to last, and #2, the incredible price I got on the recent "Deal of the Day" at Amazon. For around 50 bucks I not only got the cordless screwdriver (which normally sells for about $70 just for the tool alone), but I got the "kit" which includes 2 lith-ion batteries, a top quality Milwaukee built "fast" charger, and, of course, a starter hex-head Phillips screwdriver. The tool and "kit" bundle like this usually sell for upwards of $130!
As for the tool itself, the Milwaukee 0490-22 cordless screwdriver is most useful for "around the house" type applications, in my opinion, as I believe the 4-Volt is best for light duty work. If you need to build a deck or drill repeatedly into hard wood, you should consider a more powerful screwgun or driver, also made by Milwaukee, Hitachi, DeWalt or other "professional grade" tool manufacturers.
This model is a 1/4" hex-head drive size, standard for most uses. It features a 21 position clutch with auto shut-off when the clutch reaches it's specific torque level to keep the unit from gouging out the screw-head and also to prevent overheating the unit. According to the manufacturers user manual, the auto shut-off is effective only for the first 13 positions, the remaining 8 high-torque positions may not engage the auto-shut off feature. So, use caution here. The unit also comes with a handy 2-speed switch to go from a higher torque, but lower speed 200 RPM; to a lower torque, but higher speed 600 RPM. It has a locking switch to lock the screwdriver up for manual twisting of tough driver conditions. It's handle can be used either in a straight or bent position for ease of use and extra torquing. Finally, the best feature, I think, is the easy change (no tool required) chuck. One hand operation is all that is required to change drivers or small hex-head drill bits.
All-in-all, it's a fine tool to have around the house or garage. The battery life is excellent. It comes with the famous Milwaukee 5-year warranty. What more could you ask for?
