Tools and Hardware Reviews of Milwaukee 0923-29 18 Volt 1/2-Inch Lok-Tor Hammer-Drill, Sawzall -InchThe Hatchet-Inch, Circular Saw & Worklight Combo KitCustomer Review: A solid kit Summary: 5 Stars
In my opinion, you can't go wrong with Milwaukee. Kit comes with two batteries, so you might want to buy a third if you don't like swapping batteries between devices if you're using all the tools at once.FYI: I got the kit when a promotion was in effect where you could get a jobsite radio, multibay charger or a silly knife for free. I went with the multibay charger as I tend to listen to my iPod when working. Buy quick and take advantage of that deal! Both the drill and sawzall allow you to attach the battery in two ways. Look at the picture of the tools and you'll see the large part of the battery facing forwards. You can slide it on so the large part is facing backwards. This is not very important on the sawzall where the change in weight distribution doesn't do anything, but on the drill, attaching the battery "backwards" shifts the weight more evenly, so that the drill doesn't naturally aim nose-down. Cool stuff. The only gripe I have with the purchase is so small and silly that you might as well ignore it - namely that the tools were covered lightly with dust from the cardboard packing material that the tools are surrounded by in the box. As I said, not a big issue, tools get dirty when you use them anyway. Something to keep in mind when you open the box. I opened it on my black couch. Oops. Oh, the contractor bag is great too. It comes with a strap so your shoulders can support the weight of a full bag. A small feature, but important when you think about how much stuff you put in the bag. Recommendation - Buy this kit, Milwaukee rules!
Description of Milwaukee 0923-29 18 Volt 1/2-Inch Lok-Tor Hammer-Drill, Sawzall -InchThe Hatchet-Inch, Circular Saw & Worklight Combo KitThe Milwaukee 18V Hammer-Drill delivers high torque, long run-time and increased durability; a new Milwaukee-built high efficiency motor delivers up to 550 in.-lbs. of torque. Kit includes The Hatchet reciprocating saw with 6-position pivoting handle, 3200 RPM circular saw with 6 1/2in. blade, Xenon worklight, two 18V battery packs and a carrying case. You've got to love combo kits, and this one might reign supreme in the contracting world. The king of recip saws, Milwaukee delivers here with their awesome cordless Hatchet Sawzall model with a six-position pivoting handle. The tool is only 13 inches long when fully pivoted, letting you cut between 16-inch on center studs, as well as between rafters and joists, with very aggressive orbital action. You'll like the super quick and easy blade changes, too. The 18-volt 6-1/2-inch circular saw easily cuts 2-by material at a 45-degree bevel in just one pass and packs plenty of power. The saw's excellent balance, all-metal upper and lower guards, and rigid aircraft aluminum shoe add durability you can feel. The soft-grip handle feels great in hand and dampens vibration. The hammer drill features reversible battery for working in tight spaces and, we think, better balance, too. The soft grip reduces pressure points and absorbs tool vibration, too--a nice feature considering the tool's got 495 inch-pounds of torque and up to 1,700 rpm. Last, the handy multiposition flashlight has a nice, strong beam and stays where you put it. Everything fits in the roomy, rugged bag?ready for transport when the work is done.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste
