Tools and Hardware Reviews of Milwaukee 49-17-3100 Bulk Box of 200 Disposable Earplugs, NRR 29 db

Customer Review: Sleep in Peace
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm a college student living in the dorm rooms and generally I go to bed earlier that others in the hall. Understanding that college students are sometimes loud, I figured it would be easier wearing ear plugs to bed instead of asking college age guys to be quiet.

First of all, these plugs are pretty cheap. I looked at others, but didn't want to spend more on the same amount of plugs (or less)

Second, they work. Once it, I cannot hear the guys screaming and yelling in the hall. Ah. Even better though, I can still here my alarm clock, so I don't risk oversleeping because of them. They seem to block out noises that travel further.

One minor complaint is that they fall out during the night sometimes. Generally when they do, I'm already asleep so they don't bother me, but if you toss and turn a lot, they probably won't stay put.

Customer Review: Soundly Plugged
Summary: 5 Stars

The Milwaukee disposable earplugs are an ideal way to prevent hearing loss. Individually packaged by pairs they can be easily kept clean and handy being small enough to keep a pair in ones pocket all all times. With the bulk packaging of 200 I can now keep several sealed packages in all my noisy tools and have enough to pass out to co-workers for their needs. When kept out in the cold they can become more pliable if warmed in an inside pocket or mouth. Although try to keep them dry or you will be experiencing a wet woolly and remembering your high school dating days. Also don't mistake frozen plugs for candies. Be Safe, Be Smart, Protect your Hearing.

Customer Review: Take my advice - I'm a drummer
Summary: 5 Stars

I play drums in a very loud band and these things work great. They cut a lot of the volume out and do so across a pretty decent sound spectrum. The lows can still be a bit too rumbly but it sure beats the heck out of having ringing the ears for days after a show.

Remember gang: always use hearing protection when playing drums.

Customer Review: They block sound
Summary: 4 Stars

They do what they are supposed to do. You have to crush them down pretty tight and press them in far. When they expand they do a good job at blocking louder sounds, I can still hear people talking if they are close by. they are comfortable enough to wear for hours on end.

Customer Review: Watch for a good price and buy these
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought four boxes of these at 6.99 shipped, per box of 200 pair, with each pair sealed in a little bag. No better price anywhere... not even close. Handy box has a little trap door to keep them all in, but allow pulling a bag out one at a time.

These are nice feeling foamies rated at a standard 29 nrr for foamies. These are manufactured for Milwaukee by Howard Leight Industries, the standard for foamies, and are this non-corded model is made in the USA according to the box.

They squish fine and insert fine. Soft foam makes them easy to keep in for hours on end. I use them for construction and shop and Harley riding on long trips that would have left my head ringing. These would also work great for sleepers. Very soft.

Watch for these to come up at a low price and buy bulk.

UPDATE 21Mar2010: Sadly, I've never again seen the price get anywhere near that low. I keep this and other products in my Amazon 'cart' and check often for the price increase/decrease alert... but nothing yet. I've gifted a box to a 'sleeper' friend that loves them. Down to 2-1/2 boxes and getting panicky I won't get them for a song again. However, I'd pay the twenty dollar going price for them (or just get the Howard Leight equivalent, depending on price) in a heartbeat. In the meantime I'd be watching for that deal again.

I keep bags/sets in the saddlebags, in the gun/range gear kits, in the shop, in the truck, etc. These foamies have gone as far as Afghanistan for helicopter, general air travel and weapons fire (including fending off mortar fire), and soon Iraq out of general principle.
