I was able to eliminate an oversized conventional alarm clock with the diminutive,yet still substantial Moshi AVR unit. To me an less cluttered nightstand is a good thing. The voice recognition feature blows me away every time. I speak to my clock and it talks back, confirming commands, providing data such as time, date, temperature. I have had good success with it's voice recongnition, and it's microphone is sensitive enough to be able to merely speak to the device with your head still on a pillow and it will follow your commands. I do concur with other reviews which complain about the lack of volume control, & duration of the "sleep" command, but as far as the nightlight - it does execute a pattern of different colors alternating every 5 seconds or so, but my thinking is that the brightness sure beats a broken toe or kneecap because the light wasn't bright enough to avoid furniture and other assorted articles lyning on the floor. Great design, certainly a ground breaking product, but again I cannot give it 5 stars due to the above issues; (note however that the the alarm begins softly and rises gradually to levels sure to wake even the most subborn sleeper) and a mere 5 minute "sleep sounds" duration.
I am impressed, and intend on keeping this baby around.

Voice recognition is spotty...when trying to set in time sometimes have to repeat multiple times. For instance, I kept saying AM but Moshi responded with PM time despite my yelling into the machine. My wife gave up on it, apparently she is not loud enough and got fed up with Moshi not recognizing her. It's a nice clock but voice activation DOESN'T work well at all.Customer Review: Didn't Work

I liked the way the clock looked and the voice activation worked well but the digital display did not work correctly so certain numbers did not appear. Also, what you don't find out until after you get the clock is that the display does not remain lit. It only lights up when you speak a command. So if it is dark in the room you cannot see the display. The only reasons to speak a command are to change the time, set the alarm or play sounds. This clock didn't work for me.Customer Review: Disappointed

The design of this product is great, but the voice commands do NOT work. I have had to resort to manual modes for all functions. No matter how slowly, clearly, or how many times I repeat a command it does not get it correct. I am a trained actress and so I know articulation is not the issue. I am not sure what the problem is, but I would not recommend this product.Customer Review: Disappointing gift

I bought this for my husband for Christmas thinking it would be simple to use. It really isn't. Doesn't always recognize your voice and you have to memorize specific commands for it to work. All together not worth it. Sending it back.
