Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mr. Heater MH12T Single Tank-Top Propane HeaterCustomer Review: What a Little Gem! Summary: 5 Stars
We heat differently then most folks; just the room that we're in instead of the whole house. For the past 20 years or so we got along just fine with a kerosene heater even though it was a bit of a pain having to fuss with pouring fuel into the tank with a funnel and the odor when you first fired it up. Last year clear grade kerosene jumped to $3.49 a gallon and this year $6.21. I saw this little heater and with propane only $1.65 a gallon I figured - No Brainer!!! Right out of the box and onto a five gallon tank took all of five minutes and this little gem worked flawlessly the first time and ever since. No hassle, no pouring, no warm up period, no wick burn off every week, no odor at all, just instant, focused heat. Great value for the price!
Customer Review: Worked well at Bright Angel Campgroung Grand Canyon Summary: 4 Stars
February 2009 I backpacked this thing into the Grand Canyon and it worked very well for us. We each carried a 1lb propane bottle. The bottle will last about 2.5 hours on low if I remember correctly. It does put out a fair amount of heat. The stand that it comes with is very light and sturdy enough to make it portable. The stand will make the heater sit facing upwards or 90 degrees perpendicular from the ground.
It kept two of us plenty warm and I plan on using it on my shorter backpack trips where campfires are not permitted.
EDIT: 2010. The regulator failed and it was replaced at no cost through manufacture RMA process. I am very happy.
Customer Review: Works great Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this heater to take the chill off the cool desert evenings. I use it on my patio which is not enclosed and it puts out enough heat to warm 4 people sitting around the patio table. Often the person sitting closest to the heater has to move away as they get too warm. I used this unit all winter with no problems.
Customer Review: great little heater Summary: 5 Stars
Attach it to your propane cylinder, open the cylinder valve, turn the heater control to any "run" setting, a click a lighter (like a candle lighter) near the element, and it's "on" and making heat. Lots and lots of heat. In fact, it may be just a bit too much heat for your taste. But, it's quiet, easy, seemingly failproof, so no complaints whatsoever. If I were to improve it, I might ask for a thermostat which could cycle of vary the heat output, but that's the only thing.
