Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mr. Heater MRHF273400 Buddy Portable LP Gas Heater

Customer Review: Buddy propane heater
Summary: 4 Stars

Have used it a couple of times since the purchase and love it. Nice for tailgating!!

Customer Review: Can not handle wind or breeze
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this with the hope of using it at our kids outdoor sporting events, but, when ever there was a breeze, the heater would shut off. This heater is a perfect size instead of carrying a large propane tank heater, but could not stand up to the elements. Works great with no wind. If they could just make it wind proof, it would be perfect.

Customer Review: Carbon monoxide and propane
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't (yet) have this heater but it is on my wish list.

I'm posting this merely to point out the inaccuracies and potentially DANGEROUS information in the poster who states that propane does not produce CO (Carbon Monoxide). Visit this site and you'll get plenty of information about this: http://www.carbonmonoxidedeaths.com .

Like all fuels, propane gas requires oxygen to burn completely. Appliance malfunctions, vent system blockage and improper installation will reduce the oxygen supply. When this happens, the fuel will not burn properly, releasing CO into the room, and long term exposure can lead to CO poisoning.

A bigger problem here is that in an enclosed area, the propane heater can consume oxygen. In an oxygen-starved room, the propane will continue to burn, and WILL produce carbon monoxide. This manufacturer was smart enough to include an oxygen sensor to avoid this dangerous situation. In fact, this manufacturer is a FOUNDING MEMBER of a Coalition for Portable Radiant Heater Safety. You will find very few portable heaters that are rated for indoor use today. This is one of them and you should be able to use this safely.

Customer Review: DO NOT confuse carbon dioxide with deadly carbon monoxide
Summary: 4 Stars

Just to clarify what a previous reviewer stated, although both are common products of combustion, DO NOT confuse non-toxic carbon dioxide with deadly poisonous carbon monoxide.

True, normal combustion of propane, or any fuel, creates combustion byproducts that consist of carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor. The danger is, in enclosed spaces such as cottages, tents, recreational vehicles and campers, any of these devices (whether they run on propane, naphtha, kerosene...) can also quickly produce dangerous amounts of carbon monoxide when starved of oxygen.

That's why this heater features a low oxygen shutoff system that automatically shuts the heater off if the amount of oxygen in the air gets too low. Still, you should always provide adequate ventilation when using in enclosed spaces.

Customer Review: Difference between F232025 and F273400
Summary: 5 Stars

There are currently two seemingly identical models currently listed on Amazon, the F232025 and the F273400. I contacted the manufacturer and verifed that the F232025 is the newest version. The F273400 was manufactured through 2008. For this reason, I'd recommend purchasing the F232025. It's also cheaper.
