Tools and Hardware Reviews of Multimeter DT830B 19-Range DMM

Customer Review: Great for teaching
Summary: 5 Stars

You can't argue with an $8 digital multi meter. It doesn't have lots of features, but it works just fine, and is cheap enough to buy 10 of them for a class. Nice.

Customer Review: Handy little device
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great basic digital multi-meter. It does everything it should, is easy to use, and is accurate. Unlike another reviewer, I had no problems opening the back to replace the battery, nor did I encounter any other problems. Speaking of the battery though, when this product arrived, it came with an included 9V battery, which wasn't hooked up (as it should be), however, the battery was dead on arrival. No big problem, but perhaps you should have some backup batteries on hand prior to its arrival.

Customer Review: I bought 5. only 3 were even decent
Summary: 1 Stars

I would only test it to see if I had power or continuity. The accuarcy was horrible when checked against a fluke and extech meter.

Customer Review: I got what I expected
Summary: 4 Stars

The product is efficient for battery testing and easy to use with guides to the expected power readings of each type of battery. I bought this one in particular for the load feature as it is supposed to eliminate readings for dead batteries. Just yesterday I had a rechargeable battery that I didnt realize was one when I tested it since I needed it fast and it gave me a pretty good reading (not the best but high enough). As soon as I began using it the battery had zero power so the load feature isnt that great or it may have been the way rechargeables discharge and I havent tried to figure out how reliable this feature is yet on regular batteries. Other than this one hiccup, this product has been a good value for the price and has many more features I probably wont use since I didnt buy it for them.

Customer Review: No battery tester, wrong measurements
Summary: 1 Stars

I cannot recommend the multimeter, because:
(1) It has NO battery tester.
(2) The image is not identical with the real layout of the multimeter.
(3) If I do comparisons with other multimeters the measured voltages are ~15% too high -- I can only assumes my device is faulty...
