It would be nice if the company that makes this item would make it with the coils already slightly separated from each other. That would make it MUCH easier to clean and, possibly, will let it heat beverages up more quickly. IF it had this modification to start, then I would have given it a five star rating. I got this item so I could quickly heat up a cup of water to make instant coffee or tea. The product does quickly heat the water, but there is a problem with it. The coils of the heater are tightly wound together and, with repeated use, the coffee or tea will leave a dark stain and even residue in the groove between the coils that is VERY difficult to clean out because of its location. To remedy this problem, I had my boyfriend insert the tip of a screw driver between the heater's coils and spread them out a bit. This then allows a nylon scrubbing pad to be inserted between the coils so that they can be cleaned off and, fortunately, it did not damage the heating element inside of the coils.

I love this item! My friend and I each took one on our trip to Las Vegas. We had coffee and tea in our rooms every morning without the fuss or expense of getting dressed, going downstairs, paying a fortune for coffee after standing in line for twenty minutes. It worked really fast and was the best investment! I would highly recommend it.Customer Review: Love this immersion heater!

Works very well! They don't make it clear what liquids are OK; only that something thick like oil and cream aren't OK. I tired reheating coffee with half-n-half in it, however, and it seemed to work fine - very quickly, yet without burning the liquid.Customer Review: Non functioning

This unit was DOA. I followed the instructions and the unit didn't even get warm. I tested it with a meter and confirmed it could have never worked.
