This `Digital Vernier Caliper' is an inexpensive, but highly practical bit of kit. It comes in a sturdy plastic case and has a large digital screen. It is very easy to use and moves smoothly, thereby preventing jerky movements that may potentially damage small items you are trying to measure. I use this every day at work and it has held up after may years use. One word of advice and this is to always move it to it's fully closed position and zero the reader before doing any measurements, the readout has a tendency to waver slightly when turned off and on. This is a minor niggle and one I've experienced on other digital calipers of this type. This may be slightly more expensive than other digital calipers on the market and on Amazon, but it is better made and if you know you will be using this regularly then it is worth spending that small bit extra. A simple, but practical little tool.

My caliper arrived with a low battery that was causing inaccurate readings if I did not slide the caliper VERY slowly. Once the battery was replaced (an extra battery is included) it worked perfectly, and I can now quickly slide the caliper and the reading will stay accurate. The caliper and case look and feel to be of good quality. The instant inch/mm conversion is very handy feature.Customer Review: Excellent caliper for very easy clear readings

This caliper is great not only because it is so easy to read... it is great because it is much easier to get accurate measurements. Even when I had excellent eyesight it was not uncommon to accidentally misread numbers etched in the metal of standard calipers. It is virtually impossible to make such a mistake with the large clear LCD digits of this caliper. It is just as big of an improvement as when calculators replaced slide rules.
