Tools and Hardware Reviews of Neiko 01407A Stanless Steel 6-Inch Digital Caliper with Extra-Large LCD Screen and Instant SAE-Metric ConversionCustomer Review: Excellent for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for an inexpensive good quality caliper to use around home. This fits the bill perfectly. It does not feel flimsy or otherwise cheap. A few tests using objects of known size have shown it to be accurate. SAE-metric conversion is a very useful feature for me.
Customer Review: Excellent tool, excellent value Summary: 5 Stars
I was very impressed at how well made this item is. When you factor in the low price (I paid $11.95), it becomes a remarkable bargain. Although the product description shows only SAE and metric modes, the unit I received can also read out fractional inches (down to 1/128th)--a very nice bonus. Highly recommended!

This appears to be as good quality as the Mitutoyos and Starrets I've used. I have not done a calibration over the full range of the instrument but I have checked against standards in the 1 to 2 inch range and it dead on. Since I've only had this a few weeks I can't comment on long term reliability. I never thought to check the metric scale.Mitutoyo 505-717, Dial Caliper, 0 - 6 X .001, .200 per Rev., White FaceStarrett 799A-6/150 Electronic Caliper with Plastic Case, 0-to-6-Inch/0-to-150mm Range
Customer Review: Fantastic deal Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this caliper after someone on a fishing forum recommended it for measuring the small parts on fishing reels. I have been amazed at the quality but even more so at the fantastic price I paid for it. Went to my local Home Depot and couldn't find anything even remotely close for this price.
Customer Review: Fine For the Price But One Annoying Flaw Summary: 3 Stars
These are fine calipers for the price and the merchant had the item at my door day after next. I would do business with Copperstate Industrial again in a heartbeat. Amazon though, seems to have issues with accurate representation of products provided by their "Fulfillment" merchants; this is not the first time this has happened to me in that the item I received was not what I was expecting. These calipers are fine for most things, if a little rough on the slide, but I will be measuring routinely to the 1/1000'th of an inch and the display is, simply put, annoying for this. I do hundreds of measurements a day and I don't need the added difficulty of dealing with tiny numbers behind large ones when it's the tiny ones that matter most. This is one of those design ideas that simply leaves me scratching my head and wondering who it was that said, "Yeah, that's a great idea! Make the most important digits the hardest to read!!" Amazon lists them as having an "Extra Large Display" and I find this description a little less than accurate (see my picture). For most people this display issue probably isn't an issue and for the price these calipers are pretty nice and will serve admirably.
In short, though, I've tossed these calipers in the bottom drawer and ordered different ones with a display that better suits my need's.
Having researched this further, I'm now wondering now if what I was sent were these calipers instead of the ones pictured:

Those match exactly what I was shipped... <sigh>
