You would think it would be impossible to mess up the design of a drain plug, but they did it. After two weeks of trying to get these to seal properly we are going to throw them away and and chalk it up to an expensive lesson in buying items that look great but do not work. The stopper is either slightly too small or the plunger slightly too short to get a good seal. I find it hard to believe they field tested these before putting them on the market. It is very frustrating to fill the sink with soapy water to then discover all you have is suds -- the water has run out. After two weeks of practice we can now get it to seal about one out of three tries.
Save yourself money and frustration: go to a nearby hardware store and get a real drain plug for $3.99 that will actually work.

The OXO Good Grips Silicone Sink Strainer and Stopper combines sleek stainless steel with a flexible, stain-resistant silicone basket and drop-down Stopper. The easy-to-clean silicone basket traps food debris to prevent clogs. To empty the Strainer, simply pick it up by the center post and invert the silicone basket for easy debris removal. To stop the sink to fill it with water, just give the large, comfortable knob a quarter turn in any direction and the Stopper drops down for soaking dishes or pans.
