The Optimus H-5210 is noiseless and produces a gentle radiant heat. The tubes glow dull red, similar to exposed nichrome wire heaters, but should be much safer, and longer lasting due to being enclosed. Virtually all "space heaters" on the market run a fan while they are on, which creates a droning background noise in a small quiet office environment. This model has no fan, so it is absolutely silent. Plus, this model generates a sufficient amount of personal comfort (even in a room where the main heat is set to 62 degrees) at one of its 2 energy-saving wattage settings: 400 watts or 800 watts. Most space heaters run at (and require) 1200-1600 watts. Plus, the price ($26.75 delivered, via Amazon) makes this a no-brainer. Don't expect this heater to warm up a whole room, that's not what it is for. Safe and energy efficient heater for our 1950's home bedrooms. Compact size is perfect for 12 X 12 bedroom, with door closed and only using low setting of 400 watts, it stayed comfortable during a rare severe freeze for Southwest Mississippi!
Temps dropped into teens and below for forty eight hours.
Lightweight unit has easy to turn round switch for 400,800 and Off settings.
Do not need thermostat for low output unit, and we spend less on Entergy bills now, compared to several old 1500 watt, noisy fan forced heaters.
I like this quiet and low light heater for our bedroom. Our fifteen pound long hair tabby loves his heater!

The winter in Florida this year is much colder than usual, we needed a free standing heater to keep our sun room warm. This heater is amazing, it is not designed to heat a whole room, but to supply additional warmth when needed and that it certainly does. I ordered this heater a few days before we were expected to get a colder than usual few days (in Miami, Florida). It heated up very quickly and is very quiet. I used in my larger bedroom and it more than kept me warm. Warms the room quickly and you can turn down to the lower heating dial to maintain heat in the room. Great product and the price was even better. I highly recommend.
