Customer Review: A Wonderful Piece of Lawn Equipment

This digital watering timer has been totally reliable, is very well-made, and does exactly what it purports to do. Just make sure that when you are installing it you do a test run in "manual" as the instructions suggest, or otherwise you might find that you just have a huge reservoir of water underneath your spigot because your hose was not fastened tightly enough to the timer. Otherwise, I totally trust this unit, so much so that I left it "on duty" while I was on vacation for over a week. As I expected, when I returned, it had regularly watered my lawn for the exact amount of time I had programmed it for, and nothing more, or less.Customer Review: A great digital timer and I tried a bunch before I got here...

Living in KS we get weather from all around and often spend several weeks a Summer > 100 degrees and bone dry. My parents live out of state and we take off for a week every year around Independence Day. My wife has put so much effort (and money) into our yard, I can't see taking off for a week with no care. This year in May, I started reviewing timers, bought several of the cheaper brands and was nothing but disappointed with the quality and number of leaky connections.
After throwing away a little better than a $100 on failed attempts, I purchase 6 of these Orbit Digital 62001 timers and couldn't be happier. The price I found here on Amazon was the best I could find for this model and I have nothing but good things to say about how they functioned while we were gone.
We have put them up for the year, but I will be bringing them back out next year and am very confident they will perform well into the future... Plus, I came home and the wife was truly excited about the growth and condition of her plants when we returned. What more can you ask for!!!

This automatic valve is a very well-designed product. It is professional in appearance and construction. The programming is well thought out and simple to accomplish. Furthermore, you can remove the programming unit and take it to a comfortable place to set it up. I have tried two different Melnor products which were not only cheaply constructed, but in both cases had manufacturing defects and didn't work.

First product did not work, was replaced promptly. Since then has worked well. There is a serious programming glitch. The unit defaults to no days per week. Who in the world would program something to sprinkle no days per week. 99% of people will want to sprinkle every day or every other day. the unit should default to every day. I spent a lot of time tracking this glitch. Also, the outlet threads do not go far enough to the end. I had to grind the end to get some hose fittings on. Excellent warranty. I have used this timer for many years! they last, they work well and they don't eat batteries like I have been told other brands and stiles do!
