I've used this watering system for the past two seasons, and had wonderful results. The system is reliable, and once you get the hang of it, fairly easy to program. I'm just entering my third season, and was surprised when I set up the system this year that the batteries are still going strong from last season (although I will replace them to be safe). However, I noticed that two of the three valve systems drip water even after they are shut off. I know this didn't happen last year, but the leaking is too much for me to leave the system on. So I just ordered three new valves, as I can't find a good alternative and the system has served me well for two seasons. I do wish the valves were a bit more durable - we'll see if this next set last a bit longer.Customer Review: Excellent over ground water system

There have been many reviews prior to this wherein people have mentioned how the system works and such. The pros of this system are well worth buying it so I'll add only the cons that have affected me. One of the major downsides of this system is that the electronically controlled valves don't last for more than 1 yr i.e subject to NC summers and winters. I have two of these systems, 2 valves for the front yard and 4 valves for the back yard. I've had to replace all 6 hence less 1 star for the review. The other downside of this unit's packaging is if you go to Home Depot they sell it as a kit i.e 2 valves, manifold and controller for $50. It's rather stupid to go back and buy another kit for just 2 valves when the valves cost $15 or so each. Hopefully someone from homedepot reads this post and orders the valves.Customer Review: Excellent to do business with...

Very good both in product performance and in dealer support. I recommend these units when you need a system and don't have electricity near by. I use it as we live in the hills and lose electricity often. Now my garden and trees still get water even though the electricity is off.Customer Review: Fantastic... but...

This system is great but the material quality is low. The outer casting is made from inferior material and it does not last more than a year. It will eventually crack inside the hose ring causing it to leak and need to be replaced. The units do have a lifetime warranty and so far Orbit has been good about sending me free replacements. Just remember to go to their web site and send them an e-mail explaining that the unit has failed.
Kind of a hassle but it sure beats watering by hand.
