Tools and Hardware Reviews of P3 International P7816 Attack Wave Ultrasonic PestrepellerCustomer Review: It works... Summary: 5 Stars
I did not believe any of the ultrasonic pest repellers would work, but eventfully convince by their ads, then I purchased. But none of those worked, I read a review about this one. So I gave it a try, not cost a lot anyway.
Well, I put this one in my kitchen (I had seen few roaches running around that area once a while), in around one week. I did not see anymore roaches in the kitchen any more. It seemed all the roaches gone.
I did not know if this one was doing its job, all I know is: after I put this one in my kitchen, I do not see any more roaches running around. So, I think it works. For mice, I do not know, because I do not have any mice in my house. It works for roaches, if it works for other insects, I do not know.
This is the second one I purchased. It works for me so that I purchased one for my tenant upstairs.
Yes, it makes a small noise. It is every small. If I do not pay attention I hardly able to hear it.
Customer Review: It works... For a week or so. Summary: 2 Stars
I can only speak of this product's effectiveness, or lack thereof, on squirrels however a squirrel is a rodent so I would imagine the results would be the same for mice/rats.
With an inordinate amount of hawks in the neighborhood this past year it was inevitable that I was going to have squirrels taking up residency in my garage attic. Not the biggest deal and it happens every so many winters. It became a big deal when the rat with the fluffy tail chewed through the ceiling drywall and starting scavenging for food in my garage. I have a plastic storage been that I keep dog treats in (you can see where this is going). In the morning I entered the garage to discover that the plastic bin had a 5"x5" hole gnawed out of it with plastic shards everywhere. The last thing I needed was for somebody to enter the garage and be mauled by a rabid squirrel (or at least scared out of their mind). I ordered 2 of these because they had a fair amount of favorable reviews. While waiting for the devices to arrive, I covered the hole in the drywall with 1/4" plywood secured with deck screws. The screws held fine however the wood only lasted a day. The cute, cuddly critter chewed through the wood not to be denied access to romp around my garage.
When the devices arrived I placed one in the garage, aiming it toward the new "wooden hole". After a day or so there were no signs that the squirrel was returning to the garage. Now I only heard them running around in the attic. Armed with an old tennis racquet, an extension cord and the 2nd device, I ascended into the attic to strategically place the device. I moved several boxes to have a more open path for the device to shrill. That's when I came face to face with attic monsters (at least two). We had a quick stare down and they scurried away, presumably along the top of the soffit. I set up the device, plugged it in and left them to be driven mad by the device. About a week went by with no incidents in the attic or the garage although I could here them in the soffit from time to time. After about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks, they have adapted to the devices and are now back and frolicking in the garage as well as the attic. The device in the garage is on but I have not checked the one in the attic. At first I thought maybe they chewed the wires but with the garage one on and being completely ignored I figured I'd check the attic one when I put a cage trap up there.
All the research I've done seems to come down to trapping the wretched beasts alive and removing them that way. Not what I was hoping to do but if it takes several "road trips" to get rid of these uninvited guests then so be it.
I cannot recommend this product for squirrel issues.
Customer Review: Kinda Works?? Summary: 3 Stars
I have had this in my attic for a couple of weeks now, I do hear less of the squirrels, but they are definitely not gone.
Customer Review: Little clicking noise Summary: 4 Stars
Put inside garage, have not seen any evidence of critters. I've seen the websites that say this type of product either does not work or works initially but based on cost, why not? I figure, if it drives out old critters to find more comfortable homes or deters new ones, even for a small period, it works. My dog is not bothered by the clicking noises so thumbs up. That was my biggest concern. Seems well made, cord good length.
Customer Review: Long-term test: Rodents get used to it Summary: 1 Stars
From my experience, if you are looking for a long-term solution for squirrels and rats, don't waste your money. This product is designed for indoor use, not outdoor, but last May I placed several around the outside of the house front and back just under the eves to keep them out of the weather. Helps that I live in an area that has only two seasons - dry and wet - so will take them in during the wet season this winter.
For the first month or so squirrels pretty much kept clear of the yard, and I was pleased as punch that I had a low-cost and low-impact solution. By September, though, the squirrels were regularly back in the yard within a few feet of the devices. Also saw a large rat running along the fence catwalk one day, as well as rat droppings (now I'm back to the traps and poison).
Even with the varying sound frequencies, the rodents in my area seem to get used to these devices in a matter of weeks or months.
