Tools and Hardware Reviews of P3 International P7816 Attack Wave Ultrasonic PestrepellerCustomer Review: Not a gimmick, but better for keeping pests out than driving them out. Summary: 3 Stars
We had a mouse trapped in our loft for about a month and I couldn't bring myself to buy a killing trap. Being vegan, I wanted to get rid of the mouse humanely. I tried no-kill catch traps I got at Home Depot and baited them with peanut butter and apples, to no avail. After reading reviews online, I ordered this ultrasonic repeller to try and drive it out. We had already had someone come out and put steel wool in the opening from outside where the mouse had come in from, and the night that I first plugged this in, it drove the mouse upstairs for the first and only time. Our dogs went nuts trying to catch it and we didn't sleep all night, but finally the dogs drove it back downstairs. I can only imagine the sound disoriented the little guy and he couldn't find a way out (there was easily enough room under our front door for him to have escaped if he wanted to), so I ended up having to get a kill trap eventually. We kept the repeller plugged in for a couple months afterward, and haven't even seen any insects or other creepy crawlies come in. We've now had it for about four months and it seems to be slowly dying. It's now making weirder sounds and putting out more feedback noise than before, so we have unplugged it.
My advice is suck it up and kill the mice. I set my kill trap with peanut butter in a spot I knew it often ran by, left the house and shopped for an hour because I didn't want to hear it snap. The little guy was dead in the trap when I got home. Sad, but necessary. Definitely better than finding poops in my utensil crock and having to bleach my kitchen clean on a daily basis. And it was less than a dollar solution.
Keep in mind that the unit makes random, continuous clicking sounds. Kind of like the ticking of a clock, but uneven. The first day I thought it was our kitchen sink dripping. You get used to the sound. Don't keep electronic devices near it. When I charged my phone from the same outlet, there was feedback and static coming from the unit. This is probably a decent device to prevent critters from coming in for the life of the unit (which will only be a few months), but I can't comment on driving them out as I said before that we'd already blocked the original entryway and that may be why the mouse didn't leave. It definitely bothers them, so be prepared for additional scurries if you get it.
Customer Review: Not effective Summary: 1 Stars
Put it right next to the wall where the mouse was scratching with absolutely no effect.
Customer Review: Not seen rats or Bats Summary: 3 Stars
Since I have installed the units I have not seen any rats or bats but I has not made any difference with moths or other insects.
House (gecos) lizards are still around.
Customer Review: P3 International Attack Wave Ultrasonic Pestrepeller Summary: 1 Stars
Well, we've been using this thing, 3 of them actually, for a few weeks now, and unfortunately, my unwelcome guest (rat) is either deaf or it doesn't work. The rat is still in my house and even runs right in front of the unit I placed in the kitchen without even a nervous twitch. So, I don't know what to do now. The rat refuses the bait (he even tried to poison my cat by dropping bits of the bait in her water!), avoids the traps (it covered at least 1 trap so that it could get by without getting stuck), and doesn't seem to be bothered by the supposed ultrasonic noise these things claim to produce. Right now, I'm starting to think I should toss the cat and keep the rat, but I'm not so sure I'm smart enough to catch the thing. Anyway, I'm going to give the Pestrepeller another couple of weeks to do the job, but I'm not going to hold my breath either. I guess my next step is fumigation, but with my luck, this darn rat will outsmart THAT too!
Customer Review: P3 International Attack Wave Ultrasonic Pestrepeller Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased two of these to hopefully keep the mice out of our RV when we came to work on our friends Nevada ranch for a couple of months. Believe me everytime we come to the ranch our RV or any other vehicle we're in is overtaken by mice. We read the reviews for this Pestrepeller on Amazon and thought it was worth a try. I'm very happy to say that in the three weeks we have been here we have not had one mouse or any sign of any mice anywhere near our RV!!! Wow these really work! We hooked them up back to back underneath the RV and it not only has kept the mice out of the RV, but our truck that we park right behind the RV has also been protected! If you want a pestrepeller that really works like they say it does.....this is the one to buy. An added bonus is that we have no spiders!
