Customer Review: Dry shoes in Seattle - a miracle

It works just as advertised, and I'm embarrassed that I did without one for decades, letting my wet clothes fester and rot.
I bought this two-shoe unit, then an additional PEET four-shoe one.
Neither unit is perfect - this one has no on/off switch and only an extremely gentle airflow. It works fine, but surely a little fan would speed it up. Turning it on by plugging it in is primitive, I got a simple outlet timer to make sure the unit turns off automatically (http://www.amazon.com/review/RWR67T8FG4SG0/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm). The four-shoe unit has a somewhat noisy fan and is bigger than necessary, but does have more airflow and a timer. I can't say the molded plastic is a work of art.
These now are part of the standard processing in my house.

I'll start by saying this dryer is almost solid plastic. It feels flimsy but does stay upright, even with shoes or boots on it. It does not have a switch, so the only way to turn it on or off is plug it in or unplug it. There is no fan, just gentle heat that rises through the tubes and into the shoes, so it is completely silent. The base does not get hot at all, so it does not seem to be much of a fire hazard.
That said, it is very effective. My adolescent is often offending me and others with the odiferous nature of his feet and footwear. I bought him two pairs of sneakers and he alternates them daily, but I still occasionally have to bleach them to rid them of the odor. I bought this, attached it to a 24-hour timer like one you would use for lighting, and it is set to turn on in the evening. He puts his shoes on this thing and two hours later, the timer shuts it off. No more odor. Problem solved.
Even when I have washed the shoes, it only took about 6 hours to dry them completely from a sopping wet condition. It is not as fast as a clothes dryer for that purpose, but it is certainly effective and does not shrink the leather.

I love to wear my Timberland boots everyday... and they stink... but not anymore thanks to the PEET Shoe Dryer! I leave them drying all night every night and I do not have that problem anymore!
This product does what it says efficiently and quietly.
Note: if you have very stinky shoes, make sure to open up a window or use it outside 'cause all that smell is gona be blown out of your shoes and into the room! that's how powerful this thing is!
CONS: I wish it had a power on/off switch so that I wouldn't have to unplug it from the wall everyday when I'm not using it.

This product is amazing! We have tried a few different dryers and this one trumps all. My husband's boots get very wet throughout the day, and when we dry them overnight, they actually DRY! It does not ruin his leather boots. It doesn't make any noise. It doesn't make the room smell. We are SO happy with this product!Customer Review: Funk be gone

The PEET dryer does a great job warming shoes, but it's drying effect also reduces, and sometimes eliminates the stink of foot odor in any type of shoe from leather to Ugg. I use mine for my athletic shoes and my work shoes.
