Tools and Hardware Reviews of PUR 3-Stage Horizontal Faucet Mount Chrome FM-9400BCustomer Review: Excellent product. When used as intended. Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned one of these since they came out and it still works like brand new, no leaks and the filters last months. The secret to making any filter like this one work right is to use it as intended. Anyone who owns a decent air purifier knows that the air is run through a series of progressively finer filters. This product is much like the HEPA filter in an air purifier, the last step before the air is purified. For people who have hard water you really need to pre-filter your water as it comes into the house to prevent the huge particles of lime and iron from clogging this finer filter. Doing so will extend the life of your filters and the product itself.
Customer Review: Excellent space saving design, perfect for a bathroom sink Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I used this model to provide a good-tasting drinking water option bathroom sink and it's perfect!
You can flip easily between filtered and unfiltered water (so you're not using filtered water to wash your hands or brush your teeth), and it's a handy way to grab a quick drink in the middle of the night.
It was incredibly easy to install, attractive, and I really like the easy on/off switch. I also have a Brita sink filter on my kitchen sink and this one beats it in ease of installation, ease of use, and looks. It also feels more solid.
The water tastes great (we have very hard water and I hate the taste of tap water here), and it's attractive very easy/clear to use. The horizontal design is unobtrusive on a small sink, making it perfect for a bathroom or a crowded kitchen or bar sink.
Customer Review: Expensive Water Leak Summary: 1 Stars
I've been a PUR fan for several years now, but this is a horrible product. I was an early buyer of PUR faucet mount filters when all you could get was the regular model that you have to twist downward to turn on. The biggest problem with those is the fact they take up so much room in your sink. I moved about two years ago and noticed this newer style that mounts higher, leaving more space available in the sink. It seemed like a no-brainer! DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. The first one I purchased lasted about a year. I figured it started leaking because I or my girlfriend hit it with a pot or put some kind of stress on the connection at the faucet. The replacement lasted about three months and started leaking badly. I needed another one in a bad way and figured I had just gotten a bad one. I picked up (yes, I did...) a THIRD one of these and it leaked in less than a week. It literally sprays water onto the kitchen floor. I'm preparing to get two of them replaced or refunded by PUR. The older style PUR faucet filters are FINE, they last for a long time and they are a LOT cheaper. Just get the 3-stage version. This horizontal version is flawed in design and will be nothing but a nightmare for you.
Customer Review: Expensive sprinkler! Summary: 1 Stars
There is nothing new I can add that the other "1 star" reviews have altready stated; other than I agree. Poor engineering and longevity, high frustration level when you make the investment in the filters and have no way of using them, and no recourse to resolve your problems. I have no alternative solutions, other than to warn you to save your money!
Customer Review: Faucet Mounts HORRIBLY 2 Stars
I am extremely picky about my water, I will only drink Sams Choice bottled. And if I have to Evian, anyway, the water that comes out of these filters is pretty good, good enough for coffee and cooking....BUT...and that's a BIG BUT........The faucet mounts are horribly designed, they break, they leak, I bought one, I had it for a couple months and it now leaks, bad enough that I cannot use it. So, now I am stuck with a few filters, of which are extremely expensive.....So, I ask PUR WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO DESIGN A WORKABLE FAUCET MOUNT?????????
