Tools and Hardware Reviews of PUR 3-Stage Horizontal Faucet Mount Gray FM-9100BCustomer Review: Don't Bother Summary: 2 Stars
This produce leaked from the valve to operate it from the first moment we installed it. We had to send it back for a refund. This is bad quality, Don't Bother
Customer Review: Easy Installation, Great Tasting Water Summary: 5 Stars
This is our first faucet mount water filter. We just "upgraded" from the Brita filtered water pitcher.
Just three minutes after opening the box I was already flushing the filter (for five minutes, according to easy to read instructions) with faucet water. It comes with three adapters in case you have a faucet with different threads on the spout, but the original threading on the mount worked fine for us.
We also purchased the six pack of additional filters and haven't had to replace the original filter within the first five weeks. The information provided with the faucet mount filter explains that filter life is based on the amount of sediment in your water.
The water that comes out tastes better than the Brita filtered water, but not as cold, obviously. However, we kept the Brita pitcher (without filters) so we could fill it up and still enjoy refrigerated filtered water. It tastes even better chilled. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Customer Review: Great Faucet Filter System Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this in lieu of a pitcher system. It is easy to install and the LED indicator for the filter is fantastic. No guessing when the filter needs to be replaced. I have not used other faucet filtering systems, but this one is easy to install and makes NYC water taste better. I have been using this filter for 8 months now without any problems.
Customer Review: Great Improvement Summary: 4 Stars
This is the 5th PUR Faucet purifyer I have purchased over the last several years and it is by far the best one. I don't know if it is because I spent the extra for the stainless steel - but it attached easier and the intensity of both the faucet and filtered water is the as close to 'normal' as it can be.
For ease of install, stream of water and taste, I definitely recommend this version.
Customer Review: Great New Design, Finish Faux Pas Summary: 4 Stars
I purchase this unit to replace a 5 year old Pur faucet filter that had started to leak around the swivel joint at the faucet connection. The quick disconnect of this new model is a very nice feature for attaching the unit to the faucet. It seems a little loose and sloppy when you first put it on and as long as you are not running the water through the filter it is still a little loose fitting. Once you flip the lever to filter the water, the water pressure tightens up the connection. The flip lever to engage the filter is a much better design over the rotary valve that is used in other models and it takes very little pressure to work. The access cover to the filter has been redesigned as well. The flat indentations that were on the old unit were not much help in getting a grip on the rounded dome shaped cover. The raised ridges they have put on the new cover make it easier to grip the cover and unscrew it. They have also eliminated the need to align the square tab on the filter cartridge with a slot in the housing, as long as you insert the cartridge into the filter housing the tabbed end first it doesn't matter the orientation of the tab. You then screw the cover on and flush as instructed, its just that simple.
The only real disappointment that I have is that the stainless steel finish is purely fictional. The main body portion of the filter assembly that attaches to the faucet has a chrome finish and the cartridge housing portion is gray plastic that doesn't come close to looking like stainless steel. Since this does not affect the way the unit filters the water I only deducted one star.
