Tools and Hardware Reviews of PUR 3-Stage Vertical Faucet Mount Chrome FM-3700BCustomer Review: "One Step" is much improved Summary: 4 Stars
I have used the new one piece "one step" faucet mount for a couple of months with no problem. The only moving part is the small black lever that switches the water flow. To secure the plastic threads to the metal threads on my spout, I ran a heat gun (hair dryer should work) to get the spout good and hot and rubbed a hot glue stick into the metal threads. I kept applying heat a few inches above the threads as I screwed on the plastic adapter. Don't overtighten it! It feels secure so far. Previous filters leaked from numerous points after 2 months. The quick release pivots, releases and reconnects easily with no leaks or hesitation so far. It is also much easier to replace the cartridges.
Customer Review: "up to" Summary: 1 Stars
Up to 2-3 months or 100 gal. It cloged at the one month mark, and I fill only 8 gallons. Unfortunate one month is all they guarantee the filter for. Wow.

This is the biggest piece of ghetto junk I have ever purchased. I was dismayed when the previous version I had sprung a leak in the indicator necessitating me going out to find a replacement. That one at least had metal threads and stayed put. These ones? I have been through *3*. For one they have plastic threads meaning they strip marvelously well. Cheaper products can not be made. Secondly, they fall off the sink profoundly easily, starting that whole adapter stripping on it's way if you didn't do it when first installing. At that point, they are never the same. Total garbage. Products like this don't just hurt the consumers, they retard the progress of all mankind. I do not recommend this product.
Customer Review: 3 Times for Pur and Does Work! Summary: 3 Stars
Ok...the plastic housing is cheap and cracks. I have bought 5 of this very model. Big Deal. They last about a year before the cracks start forming...but I have had the water tested, and they DO WHAT THEY CLAIM...excellent filtration. If $30 a year is the cost for chemically clean water, ok...where do I sign? On the up side, if PUR would build a higher class model, that could live through chlorine (that is what is cracking the plastic)...then I would spend the $55 to buy that model, instead...as it is...ante up for the $30 and don't complain...imagine how much the bottled stuff at the store is. OR...you could always buy a refrigerator tank, to tie up space, leak in the floor, spill on the counter...well, you get the idea.
Customer Review: 5 replacements-all broke Summary: 1 Stars
Buyer beware! Theoretically the product sounds good. But when cracks developed within a couple months and water leaked/squirted out, we bought another one. We figured it was a fluke. We had not saved our packaging and receipt, so we could not get a replacement. (So be sure to save your package box and receipt, you will need them.) When the 2nd one broke too (more cracks, different place on the housing) we got a replacement (#3) that cost a little more from the store where we bought it. The replacement leaked right away and the lights stopped working. We thought maybe that model was inferior. We got another, more expensive model for our 4th replacement. It lasted 2 months then leaked, and the handle (on/off switch) broke as well. The leaks are in different areas, so I cannot say that there is only one problem area in these units. If hot water gets into the filter housing, your filter will be damaged. Now you've got a faucet-mount that leaks and your filter needs to be replaced too. In the 4th model we got that was more expensive -- the chrome plastic was flimsy, inferior to the cheaper model we had in white! Our attempts to contact Pur customer service got no answer. I am amazed we didn't give up yet; we thought the chrome plastic might have been the problem. We tried a 5th Pur faucet product, another white one, but then we started having trouble with our sink plumbing. Management sent a plumber and I took the filter off for the repair work. After the sink was fixed I left the Pur off for 2 months. Everything worked fine without the filter. I finally tried hooking up the Pur today and immediately there are 2 problems, 1 problem with hot water leaking into the Pur filter housing when the unit is "off", and the other problem is water leaking from the faucet when the Pur is supposed to be in the "on" position (when water should be completely diverted into the filter). The unit is installed "correctly" but these problems persist. I did a web search for Pur complaints and find there are years of complaints. Unfortunately it appears the Pur company owner (Proctor & Gamble) does not pay any attention to making their product work correctly. We will be lodging a complaint letter with the Better Business Bureau and ConsumerAffairs dot com. In my opinion a company should not be allowed to continue selling faulty merchandise to the public.
