Customer Review: Can't judge a filter by it's looks.

I have been a Pur faucet filter user for years. I had the older version white one for years with no problems. I decided to get the chrome one in my new apartment because I thought it looked sharp. At first it was working fine, but the plastic piece that covers the connection on the faucet came off and looked awful. This after only a couple months of use. I decided to get a new one of the same unit and take the other one back with the new receipt. It wasn't even two months and the same plastic piece fell off of the new one and then developed a nasty leak that would squirt right at me if the water pressure was high enough. Now there is also a leak between the faucet and the filter so the water that comes out of the filter is mixed with tap water dripping down the unit. Unbelievably crappy!
I emailed the company about it and got no response.
I like the old Pur water filter much better. If I get another faucet filter, it will be the white one which will hopefully hold up like the old one did.
Stay away from this model.

The price on this is stellar. It's a great way to get filtered water if your water tastes bad or has a high level of contaminants. However, I was surprised to find out that this is "chrome finish" rather than chrome. I recommend that if you are looking for a faucet mounted filter, to buy the best you can afford and check the warranty.
So far, this one hasn't leaked for me like other reviewers have reported, but with plastic threaded mounts and a plastic filter housing, I am not surprised. The filtration is very good though and the water tastes fantastic.

Developed a leak in the clear plastic of the meter after only a few months.
Its built in such a way that its impossible to fix
short of slathering silicon all over the meter.
Otherwise, it does what is advertised, it dispenses great tasting water.

I owned an earlier version of a PUR water filter that had a window with a red indicator to show when the filter was ready to replace. After 1 1/2 years of use, the filter started leaking around the indicator window. I called PUR to ask about this and they said there was nothing to do to fix it, but they wanted me to be happy, so they sent me a coupon to get another water filter for free. I used the coupon to get Model 3700B. It has an easy snap on installation, the water flowed through the filter faster than the previous filter, and the water tasted good. However, after using it for two months, the whole installation just flew off the sink faucett into the pile of dishes in the sink. It did this several times after reinstalling it. It appears the plastic connection to the faucett has stripped threads or something because it will no longer hold the unit on the faucett. The company seems to want customers to be happy, and they could do that by making a product that doesn't fall apart. I would recommend not wasting your time and money with one of these filters.Customer Review: Cheezy cheatin' crap

Had previously owned a PUR faucet mount water filter that lasted almost five years. Bought this one to replace it & had it less than 4 months when the aerator for the unfiltered water stream completely fell off & was NOT replaceable as any regular aerator would be. It appears to have been glued in & is completely made of plastic. VERY DISAPPOINTED with PUR & am sad to say it. Not to mention, now my confidence level in the actual filtration itself has gone down due to doubt of quality. Needless to say, I will be examining warranty AND country of origin for my next purchase. ABSOLUTELY FED UP WITH CHEEZY CRAP!!!
