Don't know why the individual filter is 1/2 the price of the faucet unit and two filters at costco (and sometimes costco has $10 coupons which make their package even cheaper than this one).
From the taste, it does a good job though and is cheaper and more convenient than either water delivery or buying bottled water from the store.
