Tools and Hardware Reviews of Panasonic NI-L45NR Cordless IronCustomer Review: A really good steam iron Summary: 5 Stars
I iron on demand. For the most part, I iron things when I need them. I need an iron that is quick, easy and convenient. This one does the job admirably.
The "steam" part of steam irons typically fails first and soon. They either stop working altogether or drip, or drop dirty water on the clothes. So I waited about a year before writing this review. So far everything is working fine. I would estimate that it is more reliable than most.
A few reviewers have commented on the convenience of the removable water tank. I have never bothered to remove it, because, without a cord, it is just as easy to take the whole iron to the water source as the tank.
For me, the thing that takes the most time when ironing, is adjusting and re-adjusting the clothing on the board. This is usually complicated by a cord dragging over everything and disrupting it. Another small time waster is making sure that the iron is stable every time you put it down to re-arrange the clothing. It is a very small extra amount of time, but it adds up, because it happens so frequently.
This iron has neither of those problems. There is no cord and it has a very stable base to drop it into every few seconds. It maintains its heat very well.
The iron only has three temperature settings, but they are accurately maintained and, in practice, I don't find I need any more.
It only has a few steam holes, but again, in practice, it works fine.
The only minor negative is that the first time you lift the iron from its base, it does not produce any steam. It only starts producing steam from the second time you lift it from its base.
Customer Review: Almost Perfect... 4.5 stars! Summary: 4 Stars
4.5 stars.
It's lightweight. It stays heated long enough between passes. It heats up quickly. It also has the automatic shutoff. The burst of steam is great for the more stubborn wrinkles.
I'm a tough grader, so I only gave it 4 stars in the ratings because of the counterintuitive light indicators. What do I mean?
A blinking green light means it's off. A blinking red? That means it's not heated. A solid red? That means it's ready to go.
Even so, I would buy the same iron again. I just hope it lasts!
Customer Review: Almost perfect Summary: 4 Stars
Great iron, but the only thing I wish it had was a water sprayer. I like the fact that it's cordless and you don't have to worry about the cord getting in the way. A solid machine and a bargain at the price. So far the quality has been fine.
Customer Review: Amazon reviews right on Summary: 5 Stars
I always read Amazon reviews before any major purchase, and have found I can totally rely on them. I can even figure out why the negative reviews are negative, e.g., what the reviewer may have done wrong.
This iron exceeds my expectations when I started shopping, and meets the standards set by other reviewers. No cord! Good and hot! Cord retracts! Sole plate flies across my cottons!
It is my favorite toy, outside of the kitchen. I might buy another one in case this one breaks down after the next 20 years...
Customer Review: Another great cordless product Summary: 5 Stars
I dislike ironing and have tried various methods to make it less undesirable. First I purchased a contraption that kept the cord away from the clothing being ironed. Then I bought one of the early cordless irons, which was very heavy and cumbersome to use -- I returned it. About a year ago, I got a very inexpensive cordless iron that only lasted a year. It never did get very hot, but it was OK. I was playing around on ebay and discovered that a name brand manufacturer was now manufacturing a cordless iron. I checked customers' reviews and decided to try once more. This iron is excellent: the cord retracts; the thermostat is accurate; it comes with a storage case. I appreciate the design and couldn't ask for a finer iron.
