Tools and Hardware Reviews of Panasonic NI-L45NR Cordless IronCustomer Review: First New Iron since 1967 Summary: 4 Stars
Finally decided to enter the modern age by buying a cordless iron. So far, I'm satisfied with this Panasonic. It takes a bit of getting used to having to return the iron to the stand each time. I'm still not convinced the iron gets as hot as my old one. I think if I wait for the iron to warm up and build up steam, it will be fine. Still sorry I dropped my 30+ year old steam iron.
Customer Review: First time I've ever enjoyed ironing Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is great: without a cord, you can switch it from hand to hand easily. No cord to tangle or try to avoid. No cord to tempt the cats to bite or pull on. And since it lays almost flat when it's reheating in its base, it's not going to tip over and crash to the floor.
Water reservoir pops off for easy refill. And for doing dress shirts, at least, rearranging the shirt gives the iron plenty of time in its base, reheating, so it's always up to temperature. Steam is strong enough to get the job done, but don't expect billowing clouds of it.
This is the first time I've ever enjoyed ironing. It's relaxing, instead of feeling like I have to worry about it all the time.
Customer Review: Free of the cord Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this iron, this thing produces more steam than my corded one. One of the best things i ever purchased, glad i took the plunge. I will always purchase cordless from now on.
Customer Review: Glad I went cordless; but with it had more POWER Summary: 4 Stars
The Iron is quite good - heats quickly and isn't too heavy. But I wish it got just a little bit hotter. I quilt and that is it's prime use for me.
Customer Review: Go cordless! Summary: 5 Stars
I agree what other reviewers say - no cord is great, and the iron remains hot enough to last through most of my ironing.
The water tank is detachable, but since the iron is cordless, to refill the water tank I just take the whole iron to the tap and fill it up directly, and the tank lasts a very long time on medium steam anyway. Another good thing about this iron is the water tank is dripless. I used to have a Black and Decker iron that leaks water from the steam vents, and I just expect all steam irons do that. But not a single drop of water dripped out of the steam vent when I travel between the sink and the ironing board, so it is not making a mess!
I don't have any problem with the retractable cord at the base, as several other reviewers do. You just have to pull it out a little bit to activate the spring and it retracts with no problem. The cord is on the short side (only 3-4 feet long) and I am used to longer cords, but that only means I have to put the base closer to the power outlet.
My only concern is that the contacts between the base and the iron do not look very sturdy, so the iron might not be able to get heated up enough after some use. Right now it is not a problem, I will see how that goes after several months.
Overall, this iron is terrific! I will never want to have another iron with cords again!
